Q: Is there a strong odor? Can I use it indoors?

No strong odor only faint but I wouldn’t use indoors

Q: What is the difference between this kit and the similar "mini"? The amount of indigo dye is 20g in both kits

I think they're the same. I ended up buying both types. The mini is cheaper but the same product. I just bought one and was pleasantly happy. The mini comes with 20g indigo and the reducing agent and alkaline. Same, I think.

Q: do i need acid of any kind like vinegar to dye set? if so do i do that before wash out or after?

That is the wonderful thing about Indigo Dyeing. The kit comes complete with activator. Ingredients are Indigo Pigment (an organic molecule), Ferrous Sulfate (100g) and Hydrated Lime (150g). You dip for recommended 2-3 minutes. Pull out - wait 20 minutes for oxygen to do its thing. Then repeat process 2 to 3 times. Then wash, and wash and wash with synthopol/ soap if that is what you have. But do remember that it works best on cotton and linen. Silk will be lighter in color.

Q: Anybody tried to dye leather with this?

I haven't tried to, but, leather doesn't tend to do well with water based dyes. You're better off using alcohol or oil based dyes to achieve a richer color.
