Great Standing Desk Frame
I've recently been converted to the standing desk phenomena after my job provided me one and it really helped with my circulation when I have to be at my desk for long periods. At home, I have an old Galant desk that I've had for years from that Swedish flat pack furniture company. ;-) It's a great desk with a huge desktop and where I work when I'm teleworking. Unfortunately, the Swedish furniture company no longer sells the Galant desk and the current standing desk options that the company has just don't have the same sheer desktop square footage as my wonderful Galant desk. Since the desktop is easily separated from its frame, I originally figured I would just screw my Galant desktop onto a cheap, fully assembled L-shaped standing desk. Then by happen-stance while searching Amazon, I noticed that one of the cheap standing desk offerings sold its frames separately. So I searched specifically for an L-shaped standing desk frame and the Vivo frame popped up. After doing a fair bit of comparison shopping, I realized that the Vivo frame was pricier but ultimately seemed like the best option for my Galant desk. I was ecstatic. And even though it's pricier than some of the cheaper whole L-shaped standing desks from Vivo's competitors, it appeared to be a perfect replacement for the Galant's gray frame. So I treated myself for Christmas and bought it. It took me about a three hours to take apart my Galant, build the Vivo frame, and then mount the Galant desktop onto the Vivo fame. I was able to do everything by myself except flipping the desk over. The Galant desktop installed on the Vivo frame is heavy because it's so large and more than I could have managed by myself. So with some assistance at the very end, I flipped the desk and moved it over into the corner. I could not be happier. I love the fact that I can change the desk height... It's more ergonomic, too, for when I'm sitting because I'm now able to put the desk at the correct height after I've adjusted my chair perfectly. The four memory settings work well. I've set Memory 1 to be the perfect height for when I'm sitting. I've set Memory 4 for when I'm standing. If you look at the video I submitted, you'll see that it takes about 15+ seconds for the desk to go from the bottom position to the tallest it can go. And even though I don't really use them all that much, I've set 2 more memory positions that are in between Memory 1 and 4. Better to have the extra positions and not need them than need them and not have them I always say. The 3 independent motors at each leg are quiet and smooth, and the entire desk raises fully in a little less than 20 seconds. One unintended benefit is now if I need to access my PC's cords, I just raise the desk to it's tallest position, lower the headrest on my chair, and I can scoot underneath the desk to do the cord work. It's like being under a car that's on a lift. It's made my life so much easier. And I have to be honest, this L-shaped desk configuration is much more stable with the 3 legs than my desk at my job which is a regular 2 legged desk. The desk at work shakes when it's up in the air... It feels unstable and I need to be cognizant of the desk's movement when I'm in a video meeting because it can look like I'm standing in an earthquake if I'm leaning on the standing desk since it wobbles. I don't have any of those issues when I'm at home with the Vivo frame. The 3 legged frame doesn't shake anywhere near as much when it's extended as my 2 legged standing desk counterpart at my office. So in conclusion, I highly recommend this Vivo desk frame: 1) if you have a Galant desk, and 2) you're not afraid to get under it and do the installation yourself. The directions were relatively easy to follow. I had no complaints. The directions don't really say much about placement, so I improvised. I tried to use the Galant's old frame positioning as a guide when installing the Vivo but none of the holes lined up so I ended up drilling all new pilot holes. That really didn't not pose a problem because the Galant desk is some particle board but there is a real wood veneer. In the end as you can see from the pics and the video, the Galant desk with the Vivo frame are winners in my book.

Heavy and seems well constructed.
I work from home doing IT stuff. As a result, I am sitting for 8 plus hours a day. Standing for a part of your work day is supposed to have various health benefits. First thing I noticed is how heavy it is. Mine came in one box, I did not buy a desktop. All components were well packaged in a thick box with foam packing. Nothing could flop around in and get damaged. After unpacking, I checked out the individual parts. The steel used is thicker than I expected. The welds look good with no obvious cold welds. Finish appears good. The paint is even and I noticed no flaws. Hardware could be better labeled, but didn't have any issue figuring out which screws went where. Assembly is fairly easy. The frame components could use some basic labeling; I don't recall seeing any. I mentioned previously that I didn't buy a desktop. Instead, I purchased oak veneer plywood and finished in a darker color. I have it cut so the desk is 6ft on both sides. Since my top wasn't purchased, it had no existing holes for the screws. To make it easier to locate the screw holes, I initially assembled the desk upside down. This allowed me to easily get the legs evenly spaced in all directions. For the mounting screws, you want to pre-drill the holes. Drill holes about 3/8" deep. Once everything was mounted and wired, I gave it a test run up and down. I was impressed both with how smooth it was and how quiet. I disassembled the desk to major components to make moving it to my desk area. This time I assembled it right side up. Having the screw holes pre-drilled made attaching the top much easier. I made it even easier by raising the table as high as it will go. Assembled it looks nice. Movement remains quiet and smooth. When operating it for the first time, be cognizant of what's on your walls so you don't scrape stuff off those walls. Also pay attention to your lamps. I only have a few inches before my table lamp hits the ceiling. Just need to get the wiring for my computer and monitors sorted out.

Great quality, easy assembly
This is well worth the money. The assembly was very simple and straight forward. All the parts were available and they even ship a bag of spare screws and nuts in case you lose one. The quality is outstanding. It is very heavy, solid and stable. I used two Ikea desk tops with 1/2 plywood glued to the bottom to add extra desk top stiffness. The desk works perfectly, does not wobble and moves very easily without vibration when adjusting up or down. The controller has 4 memory positions so once you have your preferred levels you can set them to memory with a single button. Love it!

This is well made. It was easy to install for a corner unit I had built myself. I added a half inch thick plywood to reinforce the desk. This thing lift 6 monitors, laptops with speakers on a big desk without a hicup. Best idea ever.

Maravilloso!
