Awesome cylinders for rekeying the old sliding glass doors
What I needed was for all my house locks to be keyed the same. The problem was I have 2 old sliding glass doors on the back of the house that had old "I don't know what key brand was used" cylinders and I needed new "Schlage-like" cylinders to match my new Schlage front entry key. These worked great and fit perfectly. Each kit comes with 2 keys. But be AWARE of which model you buy... per the manufacturer the "E 2104" kits come "keyed alike" which means if you bought 2 or 10, all cylinders will arrive to you using the same key. If you buy the "E 2103" kit then they will most likely use different keys. Here's the specifics tho... They are like Schlage but not exactly Schlage. Meaning they have the same grooves in the key but are a little narrower than a real Schlage key. Also, they DO fit in a brand new Schlage cylinder dead bolt or door knob you'd buy at the hardware store BUT the Schlage key that came with the door knob or dead bolt from the hardware store WILL NOT fit in this new Prime-Line cylinder because those keys are too wide. Hope that makes sense. SO what you have to do after you install your new Prime-Line sliding glass door cylinders is re-key your hardware store cylinders (front entry door) to match your Prime-Line cylinders if you want all locks on your house to be the same. That's what I did and all locks are now the same. Hope these tips help! Happy locksmithing!

Doesn't fit factory Schlage keys, rekeyable (Plus troubleshooting, and childproofing)
I installed this lock cylinder in a Pella Thermastar sliding door, which required knocking the slug out of the handle to make a hole. It works just fine. In fact, the tailpiece was the exact length required to engage in inner latch control toggle thing. (This required the removal of the existing tailpiece, but that is quite apparent during installation.) The original key would not fit the lock slot; fortunately, I had an aftermarket Schlage key copy that fit. Also, I was able to rekey the cylinder.Note: I found that, after doing a dry install that seemed to work just fine, the apparatus wouldn't turn all the way once installed. This variation was a function of the position of the tailpiece. As you will notice, the tailpiece will turn somewhat without engaging the cylinder, as if it has some play (about 1/2 turn, but don't quote me on that). This allows you to return the key back to center for removal without un-/re-locking the cylinder, just as with most lock cylinders. As a result, you can install the tailpiece at the same angle at either its clockwise- or counterclockwise-most orientation; it works in only one of the two positions in my case.TIP: Mark the tailpiece as you are installing it, to have a reference for its position. (Sharpie applied to the uppermost side should do fine.) If you find the lock won't turn properly, reinstall it in the opposite position. As far as I could tell, there are only two orientations for any given latch position.CHILD-PROOFING: The toddler figured out how to unlatch the sliding door, which wasn't a big deal until we decided to use it as a primary source of ingress/egress. (We had been using childproof lock that was only accessible from inside.) I've included a picture of my solution, which involves drilling out the inner handle to allow the tailpiece to be accessible with a tool, but not by fingers. (This approach does require securing the cylinder inside the handle, for which I used fun-tak/poster putty.)

Piece of cake - once you follow the instructions...
A solid lock mechanism. If you can figure out how your door handle allows access to the current cylinder lock, and you know how to >read< simple instructions, it is very easy to replace the lock. (Access - in my Pella door there were 2 screws in the inside handle, and another on the underside of the handle.) The important part is to measure the "tongue" before breaking it down to size (the scored portion). I recommend breaking it close but "long" the first time, and then do a simple fitting into the door to see how much more to trim it down. You do not want to mis-measure and cut it down too short such that it won't engage the door latch. All in al, it is quite easy - a screw driver and a pair of pliers... not to mention the discipline to actually read the simple instructions...

Not Identified properly
I ordered a cylinder lock for my Sledage front door dead bolt. The dimensions in the add with Amazon matched the cylinder that I needed to replace. What you sent me was a "patio door" replacement cylinder. I had to grind about 1/64 inch from the top so it would fit into my Sledage housing. That worked, and it fit into place, but the rotation was different and I could not get it to work. The key was much smaller than a front door key. If the add said it was for a "Patio Door Replacement Hardware". I never would have bought it. Not happy! I responded to the company that sent it and their reply was "Did you get the right part number?" . I replyed there was no part number in the add. Thats the last I herd from them.

It was a great fix.
This was so easy to install and a very cost effective solution to other locks.

Typical of an inexpensive lock
As far as locks go, this is very basic. None of the pins have any security features like pick or bump resistance. That said the lock is readily renewable and the body and plug appear to be made of decent materials. The lock can be disassembled using a pin punch to knock out the cover on the top of the pin stacks, preferably while the key is not inserted into the lock to prevent the springs from flying out.Key fit is in fact an issue; the included keys do not slide through the pins very smoothly due to the rough cut of the key. A Schlage key does bind when inserted, rubbing on the sides, but a well worn hardware store copy slips in effortlessly.

Correct for patio door locks
I purchase these all the time for my customers with sliding patio doors and they’re great.

Works in my sliding door with minor tweaking.
If you door already has a key lock on the outside it should fit right in. It fit in my door that didn't originally have a keyhole but there was a knockout so I knocked it out and it fit right in. Measure three times before breaking the 'shaft' on the pre marked line. I had to cut the inside lock 'shaft' piece a bit shorter so both met inside the center of the locking mechanism. Again, measure three times before cutting.

worked though not perfect match
I started installing the cylinder right after it came. However, it does not fit exactly into the lock slot. I have to file off a little in length to let the lock cover closed and fasten into place. Perhaps there may not be a universal cylinder that can perfectly match any lock. Anyway, it worked.

Works, rekeyed to my current key pattern
Item works great and solid quality. Was able to have this cylinder rekeyed to work with my existing Schlage key pattern. The only issue is that thisnwill not fit an original Schlage key; only a thinner copy.
