What's That Sound?: An Introduction to Rock and Its History (Third Edition)

If you're a true music fan, I highly recommend this book. I rented it for a music class I took as a humanities elective necessary to graduate, but I wish that I had purchased the book now. There is so much information in the book that I believe, as a music fan is really important info to know. Music has come so far, and this book does a great job of explaining the origins of where it all began and evolved. Really great book.

Loved this book! It was required for my History of Rock class, but I often find myself going back to read about a song I hear or a band that comes up. It's organized like a textbook, so it's good for finding reference information, but It's written in a way that doesn't feel like a textbook. Glad I bought it, and don't plan on selling it back or trading it in.

I bought this as a textbook for school and it’s a really cool book! This won’t be one that I pass along, with pictures of all th artists and even dance steps, it’s a treasure trove of information and visual cues for memory. Wonderful author and such a good teacher! This is the third class of taken from him and he’s a gem! Just as an information book it stands alone! I highly recommend this lovely thick book

Wow, This is highly recommended. You should not also miss the Associated MOOC from the Rochester university. Of course, this is only a little sampler to each artist but then you will then discover a whole new world.
