Sea & Sky in Acrylics: Techniques & Inspiration

One really should not do a review on a book when some time has elapsed from reading it. (Amazon, it is your fault for prompting me) I still think that this book is worth 5 stars but what I said previously should be taken with a grain of salt. I was looking for a specific technique when ordering this book. Not finding that I wrote the following which is not true. "This book has beautiful images from the artist that are awe inspiring. However, if you are looking for instruction as to how to do the paintings... there is very little instruction." There is very good instruction in this book and the images are indeed awe-inspiring. Different artists use different techniques. We can learn from all of them. I was looking for a particular beginner technique and this book is more advanced.

Love this book. Great instruction. I feel like after trying a few of the projects in the second half of the book, I'll really make some progress. However, my five year old became obsessed with copying one of the inspo paintings as soon as the book arrived, so we made this painting after just skimming a couple technique pages. It actually came out better than expected! I'm excited to try again after reading the book more thoroughly and having the chance to really dedicate some time to another painting.

I'm new to acrylic painting, I go to a paint & sip to learn and this book is a big help with figuring out different things.

Excellent for techniques, how-to and inspiration. I want to master sea scapes and waves and this book seems to be a good start. Recommend purchase for the artist and the artist in you.

Stunning art book with quality printing of glorious colors on heavy stock paper, with guided instructions. Quality worthy of being a coffee table book of interest.

Great book very easy to understand, the photos are gorgeous and they make you want to paint them immediately !

This book looks scrumptious on the cover and inside. However, it teaches you techniques with color mixing charts, but it does not give you any indication of the exact colors used and you are left to work it out on your own. I was expecting at least some line drawings, but was a techniques book only. Loved the pictures and the skies. He gave some actual samples of rubbing paint with your thumb, making dots in blue and yellow so it appears green, line strokes. It was not a step by step book. The packaging and layout was outstanding and the cover has the most beautiful colors ever.

Not so much a "how to" as "how I did it" it shows examples of completed works and the color breakdowns for each along with what techniques used. I like this as a reference, the pictures are high quality and the book covers many color palettes.

Clear instructions. I found the specific instructions for drawing waves really useful. Highy recommend.

sehr schöne Einführung in die diversen Techniken der Acrylmalerei zum Thema Meer und Küste. Die Angaben sind detailliert genug um rasch Fortschritte zu machen und die Gewählten Themen sind so reizvoll dass man gleich von der Freude am Malen gepackt wird. Das Buch hat mich regelrecht motiviert es selber zu probieren. Bis dahin war ich bei mehreren Versuchen Wellen eindrucksvoll zu malen kläglich gescheitert. Innerhalb von 10 tagen habe ich 3 grössere Leinwände ( 80x100cm ) mit gutem Ergebnis gemalt. (Jedenfalls ist meine sonst recht kritische Familie recht angetan) Persönlich bin ich der Meinung dass grössere lein-wände einen schönen Ergebnis bei solchen Meeres Szenen unterstutzen und erst recht zur Geltung bringen. Im übrigen sind die englischen Texte in Verbindung mit den dazugehörigen Bildern sehr gut zu verstehen .
