Great canning salt, and worth the price!

This salt mixes into water easily to form a pleasant tasting brine solution for pickling. There were some chunks but they easily broke up and the salt poured freely from the container. Morton's motto is "when it rains it pours" meaning that even if the salt gets a little damp or humid it still pours out of the package. No need to add rice to absorb moisture. It also does not contain any Iodine. Iodine will halt the fermentation process. After a week in the pickling jar the two heads of cabbage are yellowing nicely and gas is forming and discharging though the vent. It is definitely working. Three weeks to go and this batch of sauerkraut will taste as good as anything from the store. It will also be much more economical.

SALT EVERYWHERE! I like Morton Salt, I trust the company, but the box took a massive beating in transport. The nine boxes were packed into a box that fit them well, but was not taped up properly. That box was put into a larger box - presumably because the first one was leaking - but that outside box had way too much room inside and no padding. By the time the shipment arrived, six out of the nine boxes had broken open and leaked. Three of them were down to just over 3lbs out of the 4 they were supposed to be, one is down to less than 2.5lbs, and two are under 2lbs each. Salt all over the UPS truck, salt on my street, salt on my driveway, salt on my yard, salt all over my kitchen. PLEASE PACK BETTER.

I’ve added this to my home made meat seasoning mix instead of plain salt…adds flavor,good stuff

I got the 4 pack. I use it mostly for canning, but also for cooking and such. Great salt at a great price.
