WOW
I've never read a book like this. Although the story is tragic the way it is written is beautiful and thought provoking. I ordered more books from this author before I was even half way through this one.

GREAT Story
I read this quite a while back but wanted to still write a review. I can see why this won the Nobel Prize for Literature. This book was written without hardly any punctuation and the sentences just kept flowing. Wow! What an impact. Everyone goes blind except for one woman and they all have to rely on her. This book is about survival and trust and knowing someone for who they are inside and not what they look like on the outside. Jose writes with a meticulous sense of detail. It has a haunting prose and is written beautifully. I loved it.

Haunting and brutal and beautiful
Although the style of the author or translation from Portuguese was frustrating at times - run-on sentences with little punctuation and no quotation marks, the writing is beautifully haunting. I cannot recommend this book for the faint hearted, those who cannot stomach brutality established especially against women. I can say that hope wins, at least as one small band of the blind redefine what it means.

Brilliant
One of the best books I have read and more than that the book I have probably thought about the most after I finished reading it. Great commentary on ethics and makes you think
