Burg Wächter Unisex's 1600 HB KIT Gold Sold Secure Bicycle D Lock, Black, Large-2.1M Cable

This is a solid piece of kit. Length of the cable is good enough to wrap through my wheels and frame. It’s a bit heavy but I like that it feels substantial. The D section of it is quite thick compared to others I was looking at which gives me a bit more peace of mind when faced with bolt cutters etc. Hasn’t let me down so far and keeps my insurance happy. I actually liked it so much I bought a second one when my wife got her bike. It functions as it should and I trust it to do the job it’s intended to do. Definitely recommend

Purchased the large version of this lock for my bike to protect it whilst I'm in the shop and I was really surprised how big it was. It's massive. Could you wrap it around a thick telephone pole? No, however it'll definitely wrap around a Sheffield's stand with ease. My bike is a Raleigh Vixen MTB and has a 18" frame and 25" tyres and it fits perfectly. A few problems I've encountered are - The lock cannot be fixed under my bike as there's no space for it. I wouldn't put it across the top bar facing upwards as it'll block my brake cable and following onto my next point, the clamp for the bike lock to hold it onto the bike when not being used is very weak. The lock seems like it will slip out of it and isn't held in place. This isn't a big problem for me as I'd rather keep it in my bag with me than have it dangling down, I'd have to keep it in my bag anyway to hold the cables. - The doesn't necessarily jam, but sometimes the key just won't turn. Not often, but sometimes. Perhaps there's a knack to it, but its a bit annoying sometimes. Overall, first impressions, this lock seems decent. My bike feels safe. It's heavy and a brilliant deterrent. I would have liked another key, but two is still good. I'd also like it if it were possible to register them in case they get lost. If anything happens, I shall come update my review.

The D-lock looks solid and sturdy, made from what appears to be high-quality metal. I've been using it for a week now with no issues whatsoever—it's been reliable and efficient. So far, there's nothing wrong with it at all. I would advise all buyers to use a decent amount of oil regularly to minimize the effects of the environment and keep it functioning smoothly. Being German-made, it lives up to its reputation and is definitely worth buying. I plan to review it again in six months or sooner if there are any changes in its performance or condition.

I purchased this lock only six months ago, primarily for insurance compliance and peace of mind. Unfortunately, it has been a constant source of frustration. Despite my bike being stored indoors most of the time and the lock only being used twice a week, the mechanism quickly became sticky and unreliable. Today, the lock seized completely while my bike was secured on the street and whilst trying to open it the key snapped in half. I had no choice but to call someone out to saw it off, which was both inconvenient and costly. For a product designed to provide security, its failure undermines both trust and practicality. What makes this even more disappointing is that this type of lock is often required by insurance providers. To find it failing so quickly, despite very light and careful use, is unacceptable. In short, the build quality feels substandard, and I would strongly caution others against relying on this lock. A bike lock should inspire confidence this one did the opposite.

Great lock, very thick and feels really strong. I've got two other D-Locks by Abus and Squire and this feels the strongest, thickest and heaviest. The Cable is a bit annoying because it's difficult to keep straight when you are putting it on, great for transporting, just annoying to put on without it springing back.

i only got this today but based on the reviews it seemed practical enough, the lock is very big and can fit maybe two bikes at once, i havent had any problems with the keys i followed what the other reviews recommended, when putting the keys in u should make sure its all the way in, but it seems very legit

Pros: A very solid lock with Gold rating at a very good price. The 2.1m cable is long enough to protect both wheels. (Shorter cable would be too short, I think.) ?: it really is pretty heavy. The lock and cable weigh 2.4kg. Maybe that's a positive since it looks a bit intimidating. Cons: it loses a star, though, due to the mounting. Due to its size I've had to mount it "upside down" i.e. lock bar on the bottom, by flipping the mount collar. Unfortunately that then means the lock bar (with now hidden, ground facing keyhole) must be removed to attach or detach the unit. Bit awkward.

chunky and solid lock. Feels much thicker and heavier than my other gold rated locks. only downside is the key type. Ive found them to jam up quicker than others

Bracket broke before it came out of package. Very poor quality so could not attach to bike.

The trasportation bracket is missing

Schloss-Typ kann nur von Profis gelock-picked werden, weil es ein spezialisiertes Tool benötigt. Sehr stabil und dick genug um mobile Flex und große Bolzenschneider auszuhalten. Zu dem Kabel kann ich nichts sagen aber es wirkt auch recht stabil. Schloss hat Regenschutz Klappe. Bin bis jetzt sehr zufrieden.

Good lock, nice and thick cable. The cable is curled up which means you can curl it around your bike for easier storage/transportation, even though it's a little harder to use. The bike mount for the D-lock is pretty flimsy unfortunately, although I think most are. Good value for the price, especially considering the sold secure rating (gold for the D-lock, silver for the cable)

Très bon antivol, pas cher. Je regrette que le support vélo ne bloque pas l'antivol car il tombe quand on roule.
