The Big Yellow Book of German Verbs (Book w/CD-ROM): 555 Fully Conjugated Verbs (Big Book of Verbs)

I've been a student of many languages. Over the course of high school and college, I formally studied Latin, Greek, Russian, Italian, Arabic, and German. But you won't master a language just by sitting in a classroom, so I also been a bit of an autodidact and done a lot of self-study to supplement my formal studies. I've come to find that verb conjugation books are some of the most helpful tools when it comes to building your foreign language skills. And thus far I've found these Big (Color) Book of (Language) Verbs to be among the best when it comes to verb conjugation books. (Besides the Big Yellow Book of German Verbs I also own the Big Silver Book of Russian Verbs.) The book provides some basic grammar information to explain the different conjugated forms along with some exercises to practice, but of course the main attraction is the collection of 555 fully conjugated verbs. The book not only provides full conjugations for all of these verbs, it also provides helpful usage examples with sample sentences and related verbs. An index in the back makes the book serve as a sort of German-English verb dictionary too. Even if the verb you're looking for isn't one of the 555, you can still look it up and find a verb that conjugates the same way. So if you're studying German, either as part of a class or just self-study, I would recommend this book as a worthwhile aid. It can help you learn how to correctly conjugate all those crazy German verbs and thus be able to construct meaningful German sentences.

Yes, the CD-ROM is outdated. However, if you contact McGraw-Hill tech support, they will send you an exe file/program that'll work with current operating systems. I have MS 7 and they sent me a file/program immediately that works perfectly.About the book, the way it's laid out is terrific. To see all the tenses in one place is really helpful, and particularly the top 50 verbs. This is my go-to book for German verbs, and I've gotten a lot out of the program too - it's great for practice and to see where you are in terms of learning.

The book itself is a five-star item. It has answered so many of my questions and issues (with irregular verbs particularly) in a very easy to use and complete manner. However, the included software is completely useless unless you are running Windows 2000 or earlier. It will not install properly AT ALL on any later edition, which means all the nifty tests and exercises are not available to you unless you go and use the CD on grandma's old Gateway. Also, the CD is Windows-only, and would not function on Linux or Apple OS systems.

This book has it all, a global Deutsch verb cornucopia. Not only lists thousands of verbs, with extensive conjugation for hundreds of main verbs, it also provides extensive sentence usage examples and exercises. A must have for the serious student!

Each page contains conjugations for a single verb along with many examples of the verb in usage.Beginners can benefit from this resource as well, once they learn the infinitive form of a verb.The cross reference in the back, covers thousands of additional verbs and points you to one of the 555 that complies to the same cunjugation rules.The best $15 you'll ever spend on a language reference book!

One of the hardest things about learning German is understanding it's complex verb conjugations..... Not only does this book clearly conjugate and explain a plethora of important verbs.... it also highlights the top 50 verbs, and has thorough explanations of German language structure at the beginning of the book..... The included CD rom is also the cherry on top (so to speak)....Very happy about having purchased this book.

If you're studying German, learning the verbs and their correct conjugations is so important.Here, you get 555 verbs with about 12 different tenses conjugations, commands and sample usage. There are also some verb exercises in the back, an index of irregular verbs, and all the verbs... plus a CD rom with more exercises. All that and it's inexpensive... sehr, sehr gut! It may be a little 'huge' to carry around though...

The title says it all. This is a big book that has hundreds of conjugated verbs. It is the perfect book for those who are interested in the written aspect of the german language. It helps make the writing of sentences easier. If you are looking for a book on verb conjugation, this is the best book I've found so far.

worth the money. I would really suggest it. Many verbs with examples on how to use them and the respective English translations. Enough description on grammar available.

This is the most comprehensive, useful and best-designed book on German verbs I have yet seen. I won't bother to extol its virtues in detail as other reviewers have already admirably done so.But if German verbs are your thing, this is the reference work to have.The book itself is well worth the money, but the accompanying CD-ROM full of interactive exercises and tests makes it more than worth its weight in gold. Work hard and regularly at it and you will become a master of the German verb forms.Just one caveat: although the CD-ROM content looks and functions much better than other similar programs of its age, it is designed for versions of Windows only up to XP. The program is buggy on Windows 7, for example, even in compatibility mode, making it virtually useless there. God knows how it works, if at all, under Windows 8 and 10.But if you're running Win 7 you can run it in Windows XP mode and there it works just fine. They really need to update the software so it runs on modern OSes.UPDATE: McGrawHill sent me an executable which runs on Win 7 and Win 10 no problems. Now I'm totally happy!Unbedingt kaufen!

Excelente libro para dominar los verbos en aleman.Con ejemplos prácticos. Una pena que el CD sea sólo para windows. Muy recomendable

For me, the "555" series of verb books is the best. You get all of the verbs, in all tenses, with example sentences. Plus they chose the 50 top verbs, which get two pages each dedicated to them. These pages come with with examples (like all of the verbs do) _and_ idiomatic expressions. The book is about 7x10" in size, and runs to 700 pages. My (old) copy comes with a CD with exercises and tests, but that only works on a Windows computer (so no use to me). I wasn't expecting a CD so that for me is no loss.
