Vincent
Strong heroine putting others' needs before her own. Opposites attract. Awful stepfamily. Good series. No cliffhanger and hea. Add to your reading.

4.5Growing up Lake was well aware that her father was part of the mafia, however she kept her head obliviously in the cloud. Lake had a plan, graduate and leave to go to college. She never wanted to be mixed up in the mafia, even if she was surrounded by it.Vincent is a made man, he loves women and does not ever give false hope that they will ever be more than a tumble in bed, no relationships, he will not be a faithful man. When he catches his sister and her best friend at a club, he is pissed, there are rules about the families girls and even though Lake is not the daughter of a made man she still is part of the family. Vincent and Lake butt heads and Lake makes it a point to stay out of his way. However, fate has a way of throwing each other together again and Vincent realizes Lake is the girl for him. Now he has to find a way to show her a softer side of him, he knows she doesn't want to be part of the life, but he can shield her in a sense from that if only she will trust him.I was looking forward to this one and it did not disappoint. There is no softness with the books by Sarah Brianne, there is intimacy and an endearing quality by the men but for Lake she faces a harsh future and is willing to accept it to protect her family. Sometimes you read the next book and the plot is recycled, I did not find that with this one, I thought the Lake and Vincent story was fresh and I am anxious to read the next one..hope it is Lucca and Chloe's story.

Good and Bad
We all have two side but in Vincent Vitale it is more pronounced. Lake finds herself.falling.for.the sexy.made man even though he is her best friend's brother and a total player. But when she is in trouble he always comes for her even if his dark side scares her she isn't sure she can give him up. Vincent base never been a one woman man but for Lake he knows he can be but first he has to convince her to accept all of him in this wonderful read.

Good mafia romance
If you like dark romance with hot alpha males this is for you. I'm really hooked on the mafia books that are making it big. This one has it all, possessive jealous men who loves and protects their women. Lake has a knack for finding trouble and that makes for some interesting plots in this story. I really like how the author kept your interest with Lake's antics driving Vincent crazy throughout the whole book; not a boring moment. I can't wait for Chloe's story. I can't decide who I want her to be with, Amo or Lucca..... Already in Vincent-book 2 you can see how both men are in love with the broken girl but I'm not sure if the dark, scary Lucca can tame down his dark side enough for someone clearly broken, but you have to love her. As much as I want Lucca to find a life partner I think he needs someone stronger and more independent than Chloe. Unfortunately, she would get lost in Lucca's dark side. Back to Vincent, this is an excellent read that holds your attention from front to back. Definitely, recommend!!

Overall Opinion: This was ok. It has been a while since I read the first book, Nero, so I don't remember all of that book. I think this one might be the same for me. I enjoyed it, it won't go on my favorites shelf, and I'll probably forget it. I will say that I am looking forward to Lucca getting a story...and I don't want him with Chloe...I think he needs someone that's a badas$ mafia princess like Maria (obviously not her -- but I LOVE her!) to give him a run for his money! I keep thinking of him in a Ruthless People type scenario ;)**See goodreads.com/NMmomof4 for my full review with spoilers **Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Lake and Vincent's story. They've known each other for years because Lake is best friends with Vincent's step-sister, and their fathers work together in the mob. They've never crossed the line until one night seeing each other in a different light at a nightclub. There are some major changes in how they see and feel about each other and they end up forming a close friendship while their feelings grow. They deal with constant mob and family drama, have some sexy times, fall in love, and get a HFN ending.POV: This alternated between mainly focusing on Lake and Vincent in 3rd person narrative with some parts focusing on side characters.Overall Pace of Story: Good until the abrupt ending. I never skimmed.Instalove: No. They've known eachother for a long time before the story, so the feelings took a while to change.H rating: 3 stars. Vincent. I didn't like how he continued whoring around after kissing the h, and how he was in denial about his feelings for her for a long time. I did appreciate how he went all in once he did realize it, and he was the first to say "I love you" too.h rating: 3 stars. Lake. She was fun and sassy with the H, but I really wanted her to grow a backbone with her family!Sadness level: Low. No tissues needed.Heat level: Moderate. They have some hot chemistry and scenes.Descriptive sex: YesSafe sex: Yes and no. They don't use condoms, but the h is on birth control and the H says he is clean and has never gone without before.OW/OM drama: YesSex scene with OW or OM:YesCheating: Not technicallyPossible Triggers: YesClosure: This had a bit of an abrupt ending with not nearly enough closure for me. I know this was kids right out of high school, but I would've appreciated even a jump ahead epilogue to see them in the future. WAY too many unanswered questions about their future for me, so I'd call it a HFN ending. How I got it: I paid the $3.99 on Amazon.
