Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course CD for Lesson Book: Level 1

Not as useful as I hoped.
I bought the lesson book without the recordings.Since many of the training pieces weren't easily realized to me from what was printed, I thought maybe this would be useful. What's on the CD recording seemed to me lifeless and very heavily orchestrated in an unattractive manner. The orchestration left little room for the piano.I suppose someone greatly helped by underlying part for accompaniment might benefit more. For me, I think I was as well served by my elementary sheet music translation phone app. That could have me me a low quality lifeless translations... Without the heavy orchestration.Still it's a semi useful resource that was easy to convert to a collection of files which I could store on or stream from my phone, tablet, or computer.🫤

Not just piano
Full band with piano lost in the mix sometimes. Not very helpful.

This is **NOT** the CD for the "Basic Adult All-In-One Course Level 1".
Its rather confusing - this is NOT the CD for the Basic Adult All in One Piano Course Level 1 (alfreds product 11282).This is the CD for the Basic Adult Piano Course Level 1. (Alfreds product 14039)Alfred's really needs to clean up their product offering & product naming. I appreciate they try to sell the book, the book with CD, the book with DVD, the book with comb binding, the book with spiral binding, the book without comb or spiral binding. Honestly...just do spiral binding and put the CD with every book. The operational cost of printing different covers, shipping and taking returns, and so on would be reduced by simplifying the product line.I don't see the correct CD on Amazon. (That's not to say it might not be available in the future when you are reading this.) But you can visit the Alfred's publishing site for more info and to order the correct one. So I'm returning this one, and probably the separate book, and then I'll ahve to find the book + CD in a combined package elsewhere because that is also not on Amazon currently.

It does its job
Some other reviewers raised concerns that this isn't the correct CD, but they're mistaken, or they're using a completely different book. This CD is, track-for-track, meant for Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course Level One:http://www.amazon.com/Alfreds-Basic-Adult-Course-Lesson/dp/0739082418/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358891858&sr=8-1&keywords=alfred%27s+basic+adult+piano+courseThat being said, it fits its purpose just fine as a companion to the book. I bought it so that I could check my timing and make sure that all of my notes sounded right. If you're learning completely solo, as I am, then this CD is a very useful tool. But the music is, as has been stated in at least one other review, utterly atrocious. It would have been forgivable if they just set the beat and then played out the piano part for you to follow, but for some insane reason they decided to add a bunch of synthesized instruments as accompaniment. It sounds like someone handed out kazoos on a school bus ride to hell.Again, the CD suits its purpose just fine. If you're learning from the book and want to hear the rhythm and notes, then it's absolutely worth it, but ONLY in that case.

Alfreds Adult Book one CD
I would have given this five sars if it had included instruments other than the piano. When you're learning to play a piece on the piano you dont need to hear other instruments drowning out the notes and rhythms you are trying to concentrate on. When the accompaniment is not the best it could be and its overpowering it makes it difficult to learn the piece you're working on. Even though the CD wasnt as good as I had hoped for it was better than not having anything at all. I was able to distinguish some of the examples and to play along with them despite the annoying accompanimens, so I gave it 4 stars.

Need help figuring out titles of songs
I bought the book and the CD separately, and realized that track numbers of the songs in the CD do not match those of the songs in the book. I loaded the CD into iTunes and managed to enter the titles of all of the songs except tracks #26 #32, and #37 which I could not figure out which songs they are. After inputting the titles of the all the songs, I intend to upload the info to Gracenote so that anyone could see them. Information on those three tracks would be appreciated.

READ Title Carefuly!!!
This DOES NOT go with the Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course "Adult All-In-One Course: Lesson, Theory, Technic" book (ISBN-10: 0882848186)! It goes with the book titled Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course: "Lesson Book, Level One" (ISBN-10: 0882846167). There are two very different books titled "Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course" but sub-titled differently!

The CD Makes The Difference
I bought Alfred's Basic Piano book from a local music store. A few days later I sat down to begin my lessons, only to discover I was missing something. The book instructed me to listen and play with the CD. What CD? Was there a CD that was suppose to come with this book? I went online to Amazon to order the CD. Great delivery and service. I must say that since I have the CD, things are different.

Great.
Excellent accompaniment to book 1. My daughter is teaching herself and was recommended this cd and the book by her uncle who has also found this to be an excellent learning aid. Would recommend.

My opinion
The Book 2 and the CD do not match up altogether. but I appreciate hearing unfamiliar tunes. Played as I am doing house work makes some tunes easier to cope with. The left hand is very often buried by the accompanying instrument. Since improving the left hand was my objective, played only as written would be preferable. However the cost is not too great and I find the CD fills part of the bill.

Added other instruments to piano music
I bought Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course Level 1 last year. While using this book to learn how to play the piano, I noticed each music piece had a number beside it. I knew that there was also a CD that accompanied this book and assumed the CD would have music that corresponded exactly with the numbers in the book. For this reason, I decided to buy the CD. However instead of just piano music , most pieces on the CD included other musical instruments . Being a novice, this made it nearly impossible for me to identify when the piano was playing. The other problem was the CD only list Numbers of tracks not Song titles. I found that the numbers in the book DO NOT correspond exactly with the numbers on the CD.
