Letters for Emily

In the last eleven plus years I have written hundreds of letters to my six grandchildren. This book has confirmed to me that someday they will know me much better and not think any ill of "Fum"

What a sweet surprise this book was. I’d read The Rent Collector, and loved it, but somehow I wasn’t prepared for the sweetness of this book. The life and character of Harry unfold, just like a rose. All of the characters in the book are so well developed that you fall in love with each one. Beautifully written!

An intriguing way to communicate and bring your family together. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The legacy Harry Wright leaves his family is priceless, worth much more than gold . A must read this summer. You won,t want to put it down.

It's a decent, down-to-earth story, but it reminds me too much of things that have happened in my own family, things that didn't have a happy ending like this one (which I was very pleased to read, at least). I did like the actual letters Grandpa Whitney left, though. There were some good nuggets of wisdom in there!

Really enjoyed this book Loved how the grandpa taught his Granddaughter through his letters and was a very crafty guywith having his family figures out with the clues and that he was a good man. Really enjoyed it

A moving and inspiring tale that reminds us all that we only know what we know . Even those closest to us fight battles we cannot comprehend. Love and acceptance are taught through a great story and poems I will keep and reread many times.

I really enjoyed the format of writing letters to his granddaughter to read after he died.Very insightful and a tear jerking, yet hopeful ending.

Emily is seven years old. Together with her mother she visits her grandpa every Friday. Her grandpa is diagnosed with Alzheimer's and he is not always coherent. Before he dies quite unexpectedly, he composes a number of letters addressed to his granddaughter Emily. Addressed to Emily, but not necessarily only meant for Emily.This is a very nice and interesting story. Grandpa Harry obviously is no good expressing his true feelings or what is important to him with spoken words. This is also the reason he is somewhat estranged to his own kids. But once he is dead, through his letters for Emily, he finally finds a way to indirectly express his love, to talk about his struggles in life, to finally drop his mask. And it does some good, not only to Emily.

Harry Whitney is an amazing man describing his thoughts on life. Every one of us must read the whole book of "Letters For Emily".
