Works as advertised - 7 out of 7 drives work
All in all - purchased 7 SSD's of this model in the past 3 months. 1 in a hackintosh and the others are in mac minis.Eventually all of the drives work excellently (i.e. the issues encountered were resolved)1 drive is Connected to a sata2 (3 y/o hackintosh) and works as expected for 3 months already. No issues so far and it's the boot drive - another drive acts as a time machine backup so there is an hourly read/write process - drive is stressed daily.Mac mini's -Installed 6 SSD's in 6 mac minis (over the past 2 months).5 out of the 6 worked flawlessly all is well.1 failed out of the box.Doesn't mount - if it mounts, can't partition it, if the disk utility claims it was partitioned, after restart it goes back to nothing.Failed to install 10.9 on it and 10.8.made sure it was not memory related so replaced memory with proven working cards.Made sure it was not install disk related as tried with 2 different working USB disks which worked on other mac minis.reseting pram and all other stuff changed nothing - same results. Will test the ssd in another machine to rule out it being mac mini hardware related - then will update. If it is SSD issue - their customer service is an unknown for me, I do hope that if I do must contact them, they will take example from Anker customer service - which I recommend their products both for quality and for taking responsibility when they send out a "lemon" (They contacted me after my review without me contacting them before!).-----Update 18.3.14Drive failed on another system as well. However, After running a test on a 3rd system it managed to pass them with even the S.M.A.R.T errors not showing up anymore. Then managed to install the OS (10.9), reinstalled in the original mac mini albeit changed the arrangement from top to bottom position (it actually matters in a mac mini..) and now it works (tested a few times). So changing the review back to 5 stars.

Nice improvement
Very nice improvement in speed of not only the boot up but also all the apps seem to pop right up when clicked on. If your still using a mechanical drive I would recommend getting one of these. I couldn't find a software that would make a bootable clone my drive, and Im not sure why but it just wouldn't work for me. The software on Seagate sight could not find my new Seagate drive so I purchased a separate cloning software and it didn't work either so I just did a new install of Win.7 Enterprise. I suspect there is a problem with the partitions on my mechanical drive that the cloning software doesn't like. Anyway the Seagate 600 SSD works just fine and I am very pleased with it's performance. Chances are you won't have the problems I had.

SSD makes life so much better
I write software for a living. There is nothing worse than waiting for computers to boot and programs to load. It costs me money. This drive saves me money and makes working at my computer a lot more fun. While there is more to how fast and responsive a computer is than the hard drive, I can tell you from writing software that I/O is always the weakest link where latency is concerned. When it comes to loading a large IDE the load times between my old system (an Alienware without SSD) and my new system with SSD, I see more than a minute of difference (and it used to take about a minute). Flashbuilder (the worst of the worst when it comes to loading IMO) loads up and is ready for work in approximately ten seconds when that was a 1.5 minute proposition before. I certainly do not have time to start my machine and go get a cup of coffee while I wait for and OS to boot any more. I turn it on and it's there. Beautiful.I put this drive in a desktop tower computer I built. If you're building a computer, many modern cases have cut outs to accept 2.5 inch drives. However, you can also buy converts here on Amazon to allow a 2.5 inch drive to go into your 3.5 inch slot. If you have a laptop, you're probably good to go already. If you are working if SSD is really going to make a big difference, get one of these drives and start giggling.

Hard Drive Has Had 5 Failures in 30 Months
I have had this drive for 2 years and 6 months now......and Seagate has replaced it 4 times. They are now replacing it for the 5th time. I have to say the customer service is good, but the drive fails without notice. When booting up, it instantly isn't recognized as being installed. I have made it a practice to create a mirror copy on another drive for the next time it fails so I can go without losing too much data. I did buy another brand (Sa****g) for another laptop at the same time and have never had any issues with that one. I think it's time to break away and go buy another brand to avoid this consistent failure issue. BTW, the drive provided as a replacement is a reconditioned one each time.

DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU FIND IT FOR SALE!! UNRELIABLE PERFORMANCE.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought this to replace my laptop hdd, running Win 7. The os loads faster and Adobe Photoshop Elements loads almost immediately. I did have 2 reboots where my bios could not find a boot drive. Rebooting fixed it.EDIT......Ever since installing this my laptop (HP4530s) will randomly grind to a halt. It really doesn't matter what I am working on at the time, the wait mouse icon will appear and every program quits responding. I have re-installed my entire Win7 Pro OS in a failed attempt to stop the behavior and updated all the drivers that HP has available, but the behavior will not stop. Often when I reboot the laptop after such an event it can't find the OS until I enter HP's system check menu and hitting F2 finds the drive. Then it will reboot. Now today it is unusable after several reboots. This could have been a stellar purchase, but it is completely unreliable. I never know when it is going to lock up my system.
