A classic sidewalk surfer with smooth stylings for extra smilings. Love Sanuk's easy-going sidewalk surfers? If so, then you'll love the Pick Pocket even more. The comfy, lightweight design features a hidden pocket on the upper so that you have a place to stash your cash on the go. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); Sanuk was started by surfers in southern California in the late '90s who were looking for footwear that reflected their lighthearted way of life. Founder Jeff Kelley was disappointed to see little selection in a category of footwear that had become his main shoe staple: the flip flop. Jeff had always been interested in footwear and with a little help from a few friends Sanuk was born. Years later, the Sanuk brand still delivers out of the ordinary, quality product to surf and specialty shops every season and has helped bring the flip-flop category from a summer only item to something worn all year. The Perfect Pair of Shoes! - Especially for travelers
When I bought these, I felt as though I was taking a shot in the dark on whether or not I'd like them or how well they'd fit. I had never tried them on before and it's a good thing I hadn't, because if I had, I would have definitely paid full price at whatever store I found them at. These shoes are ridiculously comfortable! They are extremely lightweight, yet they feel both soft and durable. Quite the paradox. They appear to be really well made. Sadly, Amazon has placed a cap at 5 stars for these shoes, which doesn't do them justice, so I'll elaborate below.I purchased these on a whim to see if they might work as a pair of casual shoes for backpacking around the world. I pack extremely lightweight when I travel. I only carry a 45L backpack (carry-on sized) with me. So for me, luggage real estate is highly valued and respected. I'll definitely be making room for these in my backpack for my upcoming trip. The fit:I normally wear a size 12-13, depending on the brand. My foot measures about a 12.5. I decided to try these in a size 12 and I'd say they fit me perfectly. I also wear a 12 in Nike's and a 13 in DC's. Hopefully that helps some of you figure out what size to order. Also, my heel doesn't slip, which was a nice surprise for this style of shoe.A couple of things worth pointing out:1 - I think I figured out why these are called the "Pick Pocket" shoes (I imagine they market this...?). They have a pocket in the tongue that you could use to store emergency cash in case you get pick-pocketed. If you look closely at the tongue, there's a pocket just above the green tab, between that part of the fabric and the part just above it. It runs down the top of the toes. It's probably more accurate to say that the tongue itself doubles as a pocket. But you can't feel anything "pocket-like". It's just the natural tongue of the shoe. This is a great asset for anyone traveling.2 - On the inner side of the pair I received (Nov 2014), there are two sets of eyelets instead of just the one set shown in the Amazon photos. I've uploaded two photos: one that shows the eyelets and another that shows the tongue doubling as a pocket.3 - Perhaps my favorite thing about these shoes is that the fabric can be pressed down flat and they are just as thin as a pair of flip flops. These would pack extremely well, which comes in handy if you're traveling. Plus, you could wear them in the office with a pair of khakis or jeans and still look nice. They're casual, but not too casual.I feel as though I've stumbled across the perfect pair of shoes. I'm contemplating becoming a hoarder and buying up a baker's dozen of these! OK, not really... but they're that great. I probably will purchase another pair though, just a different color. If you're a backpacker that's looking for something packable, lightweight, comfortable, and appropriate for social events (come on... you know those hiking shoes/trailrunners you have on are ugly, just admit it), then you can't find make a better choice. These are the perfect shoe for you.

Just ordered my third pair
I have been wearing Sanuks for years (I had them before they were cool!). The Pick Pockets are my favorite so far and this is my third pair of PPs.Sanuks are the most comfortable shoes on the planet, period. A soft, flat foam-and-rubber sole and a flexible, breathable cloth upper. That's the whole thing. I have very wide, flat feet and normally need to order a size or two up from my nominal size 12M, because shoes are always too narrow and often painful in the arch or toe box. Not with Sanuks. When they first arrive, they're usually just a *little* too snug. I throw them on with some thin socks and go for a walk, and by the time I get home, the canvas (which is just the right balance of flexible-but-sturdy) has already stretched enough over the tight spots that they feel cozy. After a week or so, the soles and uppers have both broken in to my feet, and they continue to get more and more comfortable as they slowly wear out over the course of 18 months or so. (I walk 500+ miles a year over all types of terrain, from sidewalks to pine forests, in these shoes.) When the sole rubber wears through to the foam on the sole, I order a new pair and chuck the old ones out. By then, the uppers are usually a little past their prime in the looks department, though still presentable (and I abuse them). I've never had the uppers wear out, separate or tear on any of the 6 pairs of Sanuks I've had over the years; only the soles, and never without lots of miles. The canvas does continue to stretch slightly through the life of the shoe, and so the fit slowly relaxes over time. Because they seem to mold so well to my feet, though, I don't have any problems with them slipping or flying off, even when sprinting/jumping/climbing. They *are* susceptible to the dreaded "flat tire" attack, a weakness that also makes them easy to slip on and off. I find that more useful than irritating. YMMV. The heels can also be easily folded down flat, turning them into slippers as needed.Pairing them with different socks (or none) makes them cozy in any temperature from a freezing mountain to a summer day in Phoenix. They will NOT keep your feet dry in deep puddles, snow, etc., or provide an aggressively secure grip in slippery conditions. Nor will they provide ankle or arch support. I personally believe this is an advantage since it trains your foot/ankle muscles and reflexes to maintain their own stability. Over time this strengthens the joints and makes you more capable and agile, with or without shoes. Again, YMMV. But as with any "minimal" shoe, if you're accustomed to the protection and stability offered by, say, conventional Nike running shoes, you might want to ease into wearing these for running or trail hiking, etc.--else you might end up with sore feet or a rolled ankle, at first. Just be sensible.I just hope Sanuk doesn't slip from the level of quality I've come to expect from them, something which can happen all too easily as companies get bigger and lose sight of their original priorities. So far, so good, guys!

Comfy and casual
This is the third pair (maybe 4th?) of Sanuks I've ordered for my husband. He wears them out! He usually wears them with jeans or shorts for a casual beachy look. We're from L.A., and this shoe fits in with the good vibes look. They're perfect slip ons and actually have a little padding in them so they are really comfortable. Wash in the machine if you need to... I know the price seems a little high for a slip on, but they are a really great shoe that may husband wears and wears for a least a year...so they are good quality.Highly recommend this brand. The women's styles are amazing too, especially the flip flops that are made from yoga mats. Really comfy and cute.

FANTASTIC LITTLE HIPPIE SHOE
My husband has the widest feet i have ever seen on a human. They're more like paddles than feet. So you can imagine how rough he is on shoes. That said, these shoes are good for him. The cloth makes them flexible and the rubber soles make them comfy. He doesn't have much of an arch and the support the insoles have is just right for him. We walked all over town on a vacation recently and he said his feet never hurt and that, my friends, is saying something. The only reason he says these shoes aren't 5 stars is because the first time he gets them wet they'll be toast - but I'm not so sure. They seem pretty sturdy to me, but I'm not the one whose feet are in them. I'll update this review at some point in the future. For now we love them. It's tough to find shoes that will fit a guy with duck-like tootsies.
