Where does the fat from hamburgers drain?

It doesn’t. As far as a mess, just keep a plate under it. Honestly, I like that it doesn’t drain. Cooking in that fat makes it tastes better and less likely to burn.

Is this easy to clean? Can it be immersed?

Dragons3.....I have found it extremely easy to clean. NO, it can NOT be immersed. I personally use select-a-size paper towels to clean my unit each time I use it. Immediately after removing my food I unplug the unit then use one small paper towel to wipe it down. I then I take that same paper towel and rinse it with soapy water and while still damp (not dripping) I lay it in the unit and close the lid and allow it to 'steam clean' for about 20 seconds. I then discard that towel, and use a fresh one dampened and wipe the unit to 'rinse' it. The unit is still 'hot' at this point....I use tongs to hold the wet paper towel. After rinsing, I use one last small paper towel to dry the unit, then set it aside 'open' to cool. I 'never' use spray of any kind on my unit and have had no problems with foods sticking. It's really a great little gadget. I also have the Dash Mini Waffle Maker....absolutely perfect together! Mine get a lot of use....highly recommend both.

Can it cook steak? How can you tell when it's medium rare?

Fortunately, you can cook steak on a griddle whatever the model you have available. In fact, cooking steak on a griddle is no more difficult than cooking it in a frying pan or on the barbecue. So, however you like to eat it, delicious and juicy steak can be just a few minutes away if you own a griddle

Does a normal toast fit in?

The square edges will stick out, but not a problem. I make grilled cheese sandwiches. They turn out fine.

I need to have one

I had one for a long time and it fell and broke. Immediately I had to purchase another one. I love it for homemade or reheated pancakes, burgers, eggs and I even reheat anything it can hold. I think this has been one of my best purchases.

Does the job

Too small for normal pieces of bread, so you have to rotate your sandwich in the market to get it evenly heated, but it heats very well.A little difficult to clean since the metal plates do not come off, but I just wipe it with a damp cloth while it is still hot!

Small grilling footprint but works well

Rather small grill surface and good enough for one hamburger. Pleased with the results.

I AM NOT HAPPY 😒

I paid for a NEW grill but received a DIRTY, USED grill. This was my Mother's Day present to myself. GRRRRRRRR! If I was going to gift this to someone else, I would have returned it. It obviously came from the reduced in price, returned pile. I DID NOT get a reduced price, but I paid FULL price. I have many Dash products (which I love) so I know how absolutely delightful Dash packaging can be. I have always been impressed. This grill came in a damaged box. The grill was greasy, the cord was unwrapped and the electrical prongs did not come with that little plastic protector thingy on them. There was no plastic bag protecting the grill, and the grill was just jammed in the beaten up box. HOWEVER, returning things to Amazon is somewhat of a pain even though I do congratulate them on making it fairly easy and smooth under the circumstances. So, I swallowed my irritation and decided to clean up this little grill (it was all greasy) and give it a go. It heated up like a champ and grilled my small sandwich beautifully. I love the char lines. I like this little grill very much and am glad to add it to my small collection of Dash appliances. I have a tiny kitchen and I find it easier to store these great Dash gems in their boxes so they can stack on top of each other. So, I will put put this cute little pink grill back in its beat up box, and store it with its Dash family. BTW, the recipe book and Foodie paper were also in the box, but they, too, had been just crammed in the damaged box and were bent up. Sigh.
