Love this shade
I just got this installed and love it! It fit perfectly and provides the perfect amount of shade. I do recommend as others have mentioned to purchase a small chain or clip in order to be able to secure it because the wind will blow it open but that is an easy fix.

An excellent patio shade with caveats
I purchased 6 of these shades to cover my patio in strips (2 bays of 14'x14', broken down to 3x four feet by sixteen feet per bay) so I have lots of experience installing them. I found that they are great, but there are some issues to understand. The basic construction is solid and the material is hardy, I expect it to last for maybe 5 years. I mounted one side of each shade one inch lower than the other side so that rain could run off to the lower side. It makes them look a little sloppy. The stainless steel cables that come with the covers has a tendency to stretch a bit after installation so I've had to adjust them twice already and I will need to do it again. The control strip that regulates the dip spacing is not worth the time it took to install, it sun rotted within six months. I found that I could replace it with wire fishing leaders of the required length and they aren't very visible (that's as you want it, nor do they sun rot, should last the same 5 years. If these look like a good solution for you application, I'd say definitely go for it.

Perfect and pretty
This is a great item. I used it to enclose my front porch from the sun. It has been very attractive to the eye

Disappointed
The shades look beautiful however the control tape has already been replaced once. It would be nice to have a way to secure when retracted as the wind blows them back open. We were able to use bungee cords but not a good look. We had to find our own solutions to both keep them open and keep them closed as the light winds blow them back and forth. On a perfect day they look beautiful!

Didnt buy from amazon..
i didnt buy these from amazon, i did have a deck built and the builder used these, at least im pretty sure these are it. shades are ok, block the sunlight well, provides decent shade. my gripe is, is the "control tape" even needed? seems to be more annoying that anything and one reviewer said it didnt last a year. what really is its purpose? im about to cut it out myself. my other gripe is for my deck builder, they sold these as custom shades but didnt order them in the correct length for my deck. their solution was to order 2 more panels and extend my current shades. it looks like garbage and im going to have to fix it to make it look right. i already had to tighten the cables that they slide on to keep them from sagging down and hitting my head, which i stand at 6'1". and i think we overpaid and got took on the price from my deck builder....

Almost perfect solution for my 33ft patio!!
Backstory (skip to *1* if you just want to read about the awning) We extended our patio concrete which gave us extra space for seating, but it meant that the furniture would be out in the elements instead of under the porch overhang we already had, which is fine for outdoor furniture, but not good for people wanting to sit outside when it's raining or when it's 90+ degrees in the hot summer sunshine. Our first solution was to maneuver 2 large umbrellas on rolling bases, which was a pain and had to be adjusted as the sun moved across the sky, and they didn't work for rain bc rain would just run off the umbrellas into the covered part of the patio, so we turned to Amazon to see what else might work better for our space. We loved the idea of a retractable awning. Open it up on those hot summer days to provide additional shade, but retract it on those beautiful fall days when the air is crisp and cool and the feeling of sunshine on your skin is what you're looking for. Plus, being waterproof, means we can enjoy our patio even during a summer shower. Storms would be a no no, for obvious reasons.*1*A lot of the reviews were from people who purchased 16ft or less, and they were mostly very positive. It never occurred to me that going 33ft might have some challenges that those with smaller awnings wouldn't encounter. The hardware/turnbuckle that came with it could not tighten the cable enough to keep it from sagging badly in the middle with the weight of 33ft of fabric pulled across, causing it to be practically useless bc it was too low to walk or even stand under. The turnbuckle was pulling 1 cable fed through 4 loops which I don't think was the smartest design for tightening the cable in the first place. My husband, being very handy, decided to buy cable tighteners (pictured) which were life savers to us using this awning. He also decided to cut the cable into 2, and have each one looped through the included hardware on one side and then fed through the cable tighteners on the other end, that way each cable could be tightened individually. This worked like a charm!! What was originally drooping down badly in the middle and unusable, was now tightened enough that my 6'2" husband had plenty of space above his head and there was no center drooping! We love it, it's exactly what we were looking for, but we did have to find our own solution to tighten 33ft of cable which is why I gave it 4 stars.Extra things to note:You will notice in the pictures that we have secured one side of the awning with small chain, that way when we pull it open, we can clip the other side, creating very little droop of the sections which is something we didn't want, but you're able to customize the amount of droop of each fabric section to your liking.I also included a picture of the pole we used since one side of our house was longer than the other. The pole wasn't sturdy enough to stay straight when the cable was pulled tight, so we used a cable tightener pulling the opposite direction on the pole so it would stay upright without leaning into the tension from the awning cable. The fabric feels sturdy, but we were also able to shorten a section easily, so I feel like replacing the fabric wouldn't be too tough of a task if it needs replacing down the road.We did also lower it on one end by a couple of inches to obtain the best water runoff angle, and you'll notice that angle in the picture where it's fully retracted.
