Excellent charger
Long leads, easy to use very effective as both a short and long term charger. Has a clear display to indicate how far it is through the charging process, battery charge value, fast and slow charging for both 12 and 24v. Robust build quality - i have dropped it a couple of times, no issues. Recommend

Amazing product
The car battery charger with overcharge protection has been an absolute lifesaver. Its intelligent design and safety features make it a top-notch choice for anyone needing to maintain or revive a vehicle's battery. The overcharge protection ensures that I can leave it connected without any worry, knowing that it won't damage the battery. The user-friendly interface and clear display make it a breeze to operate, even for those with limited technical knowledge. Its versatility to work with various battery types and sizes is a significant advantage, and the charging process is efficient. This charger has saved me from countless dead battery situations, and the peace of mind it offers is truly priceless. It's a must-have for every vehicle owner. Just a shame I had to return it as it wasn't suitable for all my vehicles and buy the lower model

Nice Charger But Lacking In Options Disappointing & Risky
The RSC808 is an okay charger and the price is decent but the lack in options and features is disappointing although it's easy to use it's too dumb to be a proper smart charger (still more trust worthy than the chinese chargers though). A big problem is you only have a single button that toggles through the modes. I bought the 8V option which has: 12V Car, 12V Car (Winter), 12V Truck, 12V Truck (Winter), 24V Truck, and 24V Truck (Winter). I feel these modes and display icons are deceptively dangerous because what they mean isn't really true or self explanatory and what this actually means as per the user manual is: 12V up to max 14.6V at 4A, 12V up to max 14.8V at 4A, 12V up to 14.6V at 8A, 12V up to max 14.8V at 8A, 24V up to max 28.8V at 4A, and 24V up to max 29.0V at 4A. As you can see from the electrical info above this means that the more expensive 8A charger can charge 8A or 4A only with no option to charge between 4 to 8 amps. After an email discussing this with Ring Automotive they say you can use any of the 12V modes to charge a 12V battery (the icons of trucks and cars mean nothing really and I would of rather hand amp info instead on the display) but you must not exceed 10% of the amp hour rating of the battery otherwise this may cause battery damage, for example if you have a 40Ah battery do not charge with more more than 4 amps (disappointing none of this is stated in the user manual either). After that discussion this made me realise that the more expensive stronger 8A RSC808 charger is only able to charge high Ah batteries and low Ah batteries effectively, meanwhile the more common 50Ah to 70Ahcar batteries are outside of the safe spec for charging at 8A and too big for the lower 4A charge option. Which will result in the RSC808 charging several hours longer than the 6A version (RSC806) which in "car mode" charges at 6A Vs the 4A of its bigger brother (RSC808). Some other concerns are that the power cable on the RSC808 is very short (maybe 1.5 meters if I guess) meaning reaching an extension lead or wall socket from a larger vehicle like an SUV is a problem. I had an extension lead and I could barely reach it on the ground (this is also a safety concern since it means it's difficult to keep distance from the battery upon introducing electricity in case in the off chance the battery malfunctions and blows up). Also the single button function is honestly silly since you use this button to toggle the modes and after sitting on a mode for a few seconds it turns on the charger, I would of rather seen an on/off button for confirmation and powering off. Another issue is with the Error modes it appears ER1 means the charger has detected reverse polarity of the terminals (which is good) but ER2 seems to show if the battery voltage is too low to be detected (this could potentially happen on a non-defective battery that has been sitting for a very long period of time) it would of been nice if these was an override button to force charging in this instance (even for a short burst) so as to charge the battery enough for the charger to begin recognising it. Without this it I would need to either use a non-smart charger or jump start the vehicle for a little while before I could use this Ring charger which is disappointing.

Brilliant Charger and good value
Bought this for my freelander 2, fitted the permanent lead rather than use the crocodile clips, intuitive display simple to use and is charging and maintaining my battery perfectly. Fits neatly under the bonnet being a compact unit, I can leave it on my drive overnight with it doing what it needs to do with my car fully secure Very happy with purchase so far highly recommend. Replaced a useless smart type charger that admittedly is now a few years old that decided my battery didn’t need charging! This is in a different league though and is doing exactly what it’s intended to. Thankyou Ring for a great product!

So far so good.
I’m certainly glad I bought this when I did as the weather has got seriously cold. I thought I would check both my vehicles batteries - they are both stop/start - and if this charger was to be believed, were quite low. Charging to full didn’t seem to take too long - a few hours to top them up. I’ve no idea what it does but I like the fact there was a mode for charging in cold weather. And it’s nice to see a level going up when you’re charging; my previous battery charger was a basic Halfords one and you never knew when it was going to be full. It wasn’t really rated enough for the batteries I was trying to charge either ….. who knows, I may have been damaging them. Instructions are easy it’s and not too big, so you can shut your bonnet whilst charging (whilst being careful of the cables, obviously), and I personally think this is pretty good value for something as good as this.

A great item very automatic but could do with a case
This is a great item but a little larger than anticipated. It doesn’t help that the mains lead and charger are hard wired adding extra length, rather than detachable . It would also be useful if it came with a case or you could buy one. I ended purchasing a NOCO GC040 Universal EVA Protection Case which’s is fine for storage. I keep mine for use in my camper van in case my start battery gets drained. The unit is very easy to use and is supplied with crocodile clips that plug into the charge lead. Also supplied is a lead with eyelet connectors that you could connect to your battery terminals and leave in place to quickly connect the charge lead. Only problem is Is there is no protective cap, you would probably have to tape up the end to be safe. The leads are quite short, but I have no problem connecting directly to the battery connections there is little risk here. Also you can buy third part extension and eylet leads that have a protective cap on the charge end
