If this is a bookshelf speaker, you've got ridiculously large shelves
A little hiccup with a wire fallen off the bass driver which I sorted out, otherwise a great speaker, take quite a lot of running in, don't judge them until you've had them a good week. Bigger than you would think so make sure you've got hefty stands.Despite the specifications they don't do as well with a weedy amplifier, could really do with at least 50 wpc from class A/B but are otherwise really smooth....yet somehow super detailed, probably not your best choice for that Argos micro system or Amazon £40 mini amp.Revealing enough to make the radio or poor pop recordings sound as poor as they are, if you like Madonna you're about to find out she really can't sing, you'll take an Oasis track off quicker than you put it on trust me.Lovely looks/finish, and sounding better all the time..

One of the best in class
Just prior to these, I was using some B&W 607 S2’s. Now don’t get me wrong, they are quite the speaker, but audiophile-like super sharp sound, isn’t my thingSo onto the Evo 4.2’s. These are first and foremost, stunning. Really slick look but has a striking balance between modern design, (just look at those curves!), but the walnut finish makes me feel like the middle aged chap I am!Out of the box they are decidedly flat sounding. In fact most reviews online will attest to this fact. They demand several hours to shake loose and a further week or so playing will reward you with the true sound, and boy what a sound!!!!I pair this with a Cambridge AXR100D , which I highly recommend btw. It really benefits these speakers to be driven with something with a little power. No weedy amps need apply here.I also have a Marantz CD6007 going optically today the amp. So with that said, the sound is just so so rich and warmIt’s classic hifi and broad sound stage territory here. You’ll enjoy low ear fatigue, smooth but clear highs, punchy mids, and all the bass you need.I honestly don’t bother with bi-wiring but should you want to, it’s equipped with high quality wiring posts. So bottom line is, power them well.Break them in well.Enjoy!!!!
