Eurhythmics for Autism and Other Neurophysiologic Diagnoses
T**.
This is the resource you have been looking for!
Expertly written, and yet easily digestible by the lay reader and the clinician/practitioner alike. This book is an invaluable resource about the power of Eurthymics on the human mind; not only in reference to Autism but other neurophysiologic conditions (Alzheimer's, Parkinson's', PTSD, etc.) that will require urgent solutions as populations are living longer. The book outlines specific modalities and personal case studies. If you have a child, student, or patient with Autism this book will give you practical and clinical strategies for success using Eurthymics. I cannot recommend this book enough!

Thrilling Information and Ideas to Apply
I have followed this author for years and enjoyed her writing. This book however, will change the way I teach and approach my students with autism as a music teacher. I first encountered Dorita at an Orff national convention and I attended her session because of my own curiosity never dreaming that I one day would be the music teacher at a center school for students with severe cognitive and physical challenges. Many of these students are on the lowest end of the spectrum with sensory issues, behavior issues, and communication challenges.Through my music studies, special education degree studies, and use of multisensory techniques that include a heavy dose of technology I've managed to keep students with autism engaged in learning and able to demonstrate learning gains using the required model of teaching that my school district requires. By sharing not only the what and how but by adding the why, I believe this book is a great tool for the special education music teacher or the speech and language therapist. I'm only halfway through reading the book but I've have had several ah-ha moments already. My colleagues have noticed that their students act differently in music class and have wanted to know more about using music and other techniques to serve their students. Indeed there are several things I do to facilitate learning but I had not been able to wrap my ideas up into a neat sentence. Now I can recommend Dorita's book to they who want to really reach their students and make a difference. A quote from the book, "focus on ultimate attainment of a comfortable level of functional adaptation enabling also the development of ancillary abilities." To help students with autism to calm their minds and bodies, to focus, and to engage in class is the gateway is indeed the gateway to being a functional learner. I can't wait for the new school year to start to add to my bag of techniques.
