Correct Replacement for Older OttLite 641 Executive Desk Lamp --PLUS- Here's the Actual Labeling Printed On The Bulb & Packaging
UPDATE 2/01/17: My bulb purchased here 5 years ago finally died. Not bad but previous one lasted 10 years.UPDATE 2/10/13: My bulb continues to work flawlessly; no flicker, no buzz.I have this OttLite 641 Executive Desk Lamp, Black except that it is about 10 years old and the bulb finally died. After reading a lot of reviews here to determine which bulb I needed(which was really confusing) I decided to buy this one which is apparently the "A" style for older lamps with a magnetic ballast. I didn't know if I had a magnetic ballast or not, only that the lamp was older so I put off ordering for a couple months and used another cheap lamp I had. When I noticed that this bulb was on sale for $10.49 I ordered it and crossed my fingers hoping that it was the right one. It was. It fit perfectly and does not flicker or make any kind of buzzing noise. I never knew I could learn to love a lamp but I am so happy to have my lamp back up and giving off great high quality light again. The bulb I purchased here, sold and fulfilled by Amazon replaced one that looked identical to the one in the product picture; it is rounded on the top and the base is grooved. My original bulb was labeled OttLite P(with a circle around it) 13 W and had the number 9808 on the it. The one I received was the same exact shape as the one pictured on Amazon's website, only the packaging was slightly different. I'll try to post a picture.Actual Labeling Printed on the Packaging & Bulb:------------------------------------------------------It is a genuine OttLite product and labeled 13wHD Model# T13330 High Definition Natural Lighting, Ottlite 508 Illumination(60w equivalent), UPC 761712003580 on the packaging. The actual bulb is labeled OttLite 13W, Hg(with a circle around it) ROHS and has the number 1203 on the base plus a "Made in China" stamp.Hopefully this will help someone who has an older OttLite 641 Executive Desk Lamp, Black and is unsure which bulb to purchase. My lamp said to replace the bulb with one "Rated 13W Type PL". Replacing it with this T13330 one was the correct choice.I really don't understand why replacing a bulb needs to be so complicated. It's an OttLite bulb for an OttLite lamp and why this manufacturer is unable to produce a list of equivalent bulbs for their own products is really difficult to understand and pretty sad. I bought the bulb directly from Amazon but be aware that if you order from the other third party sellers you may get something completely different. That's why I alway play it safe and order from Amazon when the product descriptions are unclear and the reviews are very mixed. I once spent 2 months sending e-mails back and forth between another bulb company for a different lamp who just would not be convinced that they were wrong. It just wasn't worth the time and effort. At least with Amazon if the light is the wrong one and doesn't fit you can just send it back within 30 days and even get the shipping free if the product description is incorrect or unclear.I hope if you need this type of bulb that you find the correct one on the first try like I did. I'm going to order a spare as I really don't want to go thru this again in another few years. Of course this bulb is made in China and the original was made in Thailand so I'm guessing it's not going to last 10 years like my first one did.Actually, I see that this new bulb has a 1 year warranty. The package says: "From date of purchase, bulb is warranted for one year. If defective due to workmanship or materials it can be replaced, excluding shipping costs, by calling OttLite at 800-842-8848 ext. 500. Proof of purchase is necessary."

It is the right bulb for my light
I am very happy to have found the bulb that actually fits my very old light. The evaluation process clearly indicated which bulb to order. I received it, it firs, and my light works again. I was afraid I’d have to throw the light away because I was otherwise unable to locate the correct replacement bulb.

Works on Old Lamps
After owning it for about 8-9 years, the light bulb in my old Ott-Lite desk lamp finally died. Not wanting to just find another lamp (most of the modern offerings are not nearly as good for my drafting table), I did some research to find no guarantee that it would actually work. In fact, I seemed to find places that both said "this bulb should work" and "no bulbs are made for lamps that old anymore." There was no model number printed anywhere on the lamp, at least not one I could find. Well, it is better than the $30 Michael's wanted for the bulb and it looks about right, so I may as well try it.Plugged the bulb in and it worked perfectly! Aside from some flickering while starting up, which was pretty typical before, it just stays on and provides good light. And better yet, I did not need to replace the lamp entirely. So if you have one of the old lamps with the flexible arm and rotating shade, this is probably the right bulb if it looks like the right bulb. Hope that helps somebody.

An Amazon Glitch?: Wrong bulb, wrong number
This is not a review of Ott-lite bulbs, but of Amazon's error.I have a swingarm lamp. The bulb was fine and lasted about 2-3 years. When I needed replacement, I researched the correct bulb and bought 2x TrueColor TC10002 / T13330 13-Watt Ott-Lite Replacement Bulb from Amazon. It didn't fit.I called an internet bulb supplier with the bulb number. He couldn't find it in his catalog.I called Ott and checked to see if it was the correct bulb. They said they changed the catalog number, but that I purchased the correct one. A woman tried to help, but it still didn't fit. She asked me to send photos of the socket for the engineer. I did. He said it should fit, but it didn't.Examining the old and new bases, they are slightly different. The Ott representative worked with me and sent another bulb. This one popped right in.A note from the Ott employee explained what happened. "For future reference, you need the "notched bulb" and the model number is Z23112. I apologize for all of the confusion and delay. I also appreciate you giving me a chance to correct the situation for you. If there is ever anything that I can assist you with in the future, please let me know."In sum, Amazon sold the incorrect bulb. In fact, a search showed that Z23112 was not even listed on the site. This caused frustration and an unnecessary waste of time. Were it not for the help received through Ott, I would have had to buy a new lamp. I can't be sure as to who is at fault, but I messaged Ott to inform Amazon of this.UPDATE: The appropriate bulb is a delight (no semi-pun intended). Make no mistake that this was a review of Amazon's error, not Ott's quality.

If your Ott light is really old you need to order the type A bulb.
I found an older working Ott light a a thrift store for $5. I should have left the light alone, but I tried to remove the bulb to see if there were any info for a replacement bulb. Unfortunately the bulb broke when I tried removing it from the connector. There was no date or info on the light indicating it’s age but I assumed it was old enough to require the older type A bulb. Sure enough the A bulb I ordered fit and worked perfectly in this older Ott light.
