Good reel but inconsistent quality
I like these reels they are fairly light, I ordered few different ones, one of them is not as smooth as others. There are some plastic on the spinning arm, one had a crack in it, and the line will go into the crack causing a lot of problems. I don't know it's the bearing seals or not, if you remove the spool on multiple ones you can see each one is not too consistently put together.Another inconsistent is the price, sometimes you can see these for a price kind of high, where I made the nitpicking above, sometimes I got one so cheap I should not complain at all, especially if it is a smooth one, it would be a steal for magnesium reel.Overall they are pretty nice to use, the drag is easy to adjust, I would say you should get the needed range within half a turn, it doesn't suddenly lock up.Also, it doesn't seem to hold as much line as it says, I only got like 70 yards of 30 braid on 3000, when it says it does over 100. That's ok I don't need so much extra line. The 1000 one can hold lot of 10 lb braid.. But I think a heavier braid would be better, since the 10 lb braid does make a big mess if you have any kind of wind knot or tangle, it just flies in the wind onto branches, your other rods. I stopped using 10 lb on a boat.

comes with no- zero paper work.
Seems to be a decent reel for the price, I have yet to use it. But from the opening I noticed no ops manuals- maintenance instructions or parts list or basic parts diagrams! Most disappointing. A lifelong fisher and many reels and rods purchased; I've never seen a reel purchased arrive with NO info. paperwork.

My new go too reel
Used this reel for a weekend of spotted sea trout fishing. The reel is super light and when paired with a light rod makes for a great rig. The reel casts and retrieves as good any. The drag is easy to manage and works well. The reel seemed to hold up well in the salt water. Only time will tell how it holds up over time. I liked it so much I already ordered another one just like it.

For the money this is a good reel.
Heavy wire bail makes for easy click turnover, smooth drag, ,10 bearings provide silky smooth retrieve , you could spend more money and get a reel with metal frame vs composite, likewise other parts could be of hirer grade material. However, the performance of this reel mimics reels idouble this price range.

Not for salt water
This is a very nice reel and compares favorably with higher priced brands, but do not use it in salt water the magnesium body will get eaten up by the salt faster than aluminum. There is a couple of reviews stating that they had no problems in salt. but give it time after repeated use in salt water it will deteriorate even if you clean it, so don't do it if you want the reel to last.

Tempo/Amazon and other worldly customer service
I initially bought a 2000 size but returned it though it had everything it claimed. The cost was $60. There was ghost customer service with Amazon and Tempo both and no adequate paper work. About a year later, the price had fallen to $39.95 for the 2000 which I bought. The 1000 with the American Express points and 20% discount was about $29.95 and I bought that also. The contact with Tempo I have found impossible. I assume Jimmy Hoffa is the Customer Service manager. They both look and feel great and I am going to keep them. Now they have a Tempo Apex Plus with the exact same specs but with an increased $30 price tag. The Apex Plus is item number m-apex 1000. I have apex 1000. The description is exactly the same. If you can buy them for what I paid I would. No parts spools with no resale value.
