This was wonderfully bright when I purchased it almost 3 years ago.
After 3 years, it turns out that excessive heat from the sun will deform the plastic and ultimately the display starts to fade. Time to replace.

Works well, visible nicely in sunlight and sunglasses. GPS temporary out after sitting in hot sun
I choose this one cause it would work OBD or GPS and my car I wasn't sure it was compatible OBD II even though it said OBDII Certified. Sure enough the OBD would not work in my 2006 Xterra. But GPS worked fine. I really just needed speed and time and it has option to show just that. Put your close reading glasses on to read the manual and study it first before diving in. Speed was 5 too much at 70 so I changed the default 107 to 102 and now speed matches perfectly. I tested it in darkness and bright sun with and without sunglasses. It was a good size lettering, easy to read and not distracting. It was hard switching from OBD to GPS at first but I finally got it and was easy set up there on. Added photo of it sitting still in sunshine. Update after one month. Since this sits near windshield, if car sits in sun an hour or sometimes less the GPS doesn't work until you get going and cool the car down. So speed shows 0. Suggest covering it when car left in hot sun. Even outside temp of 80 F was enough to stop GPS working. Lowered rating from 5 to 3. After a couple of months. the nighttime dimming stopped working. This is important because it is too bright at night, I have to unplug it at night

A great BUDGET HUD, but not perfect, and here's why.
2012 chevy avalanche. Unit was easy to set up, and was calibrated pretty close. Instructions and settings are easy enough to daily in correctly for accuracy. The unit itself is SMALL, I like that. Came with a sticky pad for the dash, and a lenticular sheet to stop the double image. Hud turns off automatically, as well as turns on with the key. Device is accurate, and has selections for the upper right digits to display a multitude of OBD info. The problems, are that even though its displaying real-time, raw OBD info, the Tachometer only moves in 500 or 1000 chunks. So your not seeing any needle, just an inaccurate blue that seems to just slowly fill the dial. There is a compass, that displays the direction, but the letters are SO small you can really read the direction unless you lick the windshield. Add all this, and the 80's style alarm clock numbers just add up to cheap, and budget type stuff. The tipping point, is here in Michigan, its winter already, and I drove with the heater (feet) and I noticed the HUD, loose connection and flash OBD and start up. Did it three times. When I got home, I grabbed the OBD port to make sure it was plugged in tight, it was, and then grabbed the unit off the dash, to see if that connection was bad. Thats when I felt how HOT this thing was. Like I said, I cruise with the heat on the feet, but your dash still gets warm. I estimate this unit was >150° ,and the jelly pad it came with was like liquid. So, with the sudden power losses I seen, and the temp of the unit, I'm sure it fried, and had I had an hour drive, it may have burnt up my dash. I LOVED having a HUD, but this is waaaay to cheap and basic a unit for what I want. If I had a car with a broken speedo, and an OBD port, BAM, EASY FIX. if you want a NICE HUD, this ain't it.

Legible Daylight and Dark
I should have known better. Although I knew it wasn't going to be an aircraft HUD at all, I was still hoping. This HUD (HUD-M12) will function either in GPS mode or OBD II mode. I only used the OBD II, so I can't comment on how well the GPS mode works. The "installation" is child's play so I'll move on to the heart of the report: the display. I was interested in seeing altitude, comp[ass reading, time and speed. Unfortunately, you are stuck with a relatively large tachometer which you can't remove, compass initials which are really too small to be read quickly, highly legible speed reading and legible clock. I'm not sure that the altimeter can be substituted for any other read out or if it's only available on the GPS display. I initially plugged it together at night and really enjoyed the display on the windshield right in the center of my field of view. This was a lot like an aircraft HUD except that the letters and numbers double vertically. Unfortunately, strong daylight washed out the display. I then set it up to project onto the supplied film. The problem with the film is that it's not transparent, so you can't put it in your field of view. The good thing about the film is that it ended the double letter and numbers and made the display legible in the brightest daylight. Fortunately, the M12 found the correct time and MPH display was within 1 MPH of the vehicle's spedo. However, had I needed to use the set up buttons on the M12, I would have had trouble. These are arrayed on the windshield side of the display box. You can't see them to set them. I'm left feeling that I really haven't improved my ability to access vehicle data because the display can't be placed in my line of sight. Were I 18 again, I'd think this is really neat, but then I'm far from 18 now. The HUD- M12 has functioned flawlessly for the last 3 days, and I don't know how much one could expect for the price. I suppose my primary dislikes are having to use the film and what is displayed. I absolutely don't need to loose 1/3 of the display to a tachometer. Apparently all HUD manufacturers insist on the tach. The Acadia in which this is installed and all other cars I've owned in the last 10 years came with one. The best thing I can say is that using the film, you can read the displayed data in sun and darkness.

Great device for the money.
Great option for the money. Pictures shown: AM drive with sun coming up, overcast day, night time. This can definitely be used without the reflective 3" adhesive transparent screen but the reflection will not be as sharp depending on car you have. Screen makes a HUGE difference. The only con is the taller you are the higher on window it ends up. It is transparent but not crystal clear like windshield itself. So it may seem like somewhat of a distraction until you get used to it. I'm 6'4" and this is installed in a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I would have liked for displayed images to be a bit more "high tech" looking especially for the tachometer but the money factor trumps that. Also, the sticky pad it comes with is completely useless. Save time and order 3M double sided automotive moulding tape or it will not stick to dash.

Nice display 👌 high quality
I don't understand what vertically stick means.... anyways when I stick it as shown in the pictures the reflected dashboard on windshield get more clear, please advise if this is what meant by vertically stick..The user manual instructions is not clear and may be its a good idea to include some illustration graphics for the steps and have more clear instructions. The small warning ⚠️ on poly bag is hard to notice I suggest increasing the font and add the warning ⚠️ sign or eliminate the other port or have some sort of protection built in the system. The product quality looks good 👍 OBD display are accurate, brightness is good and auto adjust to light. Its easy to use.I will give it 5 star for the nice colors and display design, I love 💘 it ...The reflective screen sticker to be sticked to front shield.

Sick as hell!
Idk what these garbage reviews are from. Does exactly what it says does. Projects a working speedometer on your windshield. It has never been "slow" for me once. Has a sensor on it for daytime or nighttime brightness. Beautiful picture, easy to use interface and bright projection in sunlight. I recommend. Has a clock In the corner and you can even watch the rpm Guage fill up its pretty nice!I use it in a 2014 Chevrolet cruze.
