This book is SO good. It's absolutely packed with information. I honestly was not expecting this book to be so informative and fun to read. This is literally an encyclopedia of commercial real estate advice, but it doesn't read like a text book (even though it's much more informative and detailed than a textbook). The author speaks through the jargon with wit and humor, giving relevant first hand accounts as the book goes along which makes me look forward to the next page. I've actually paused my endless loopnet searches until I've read this book cover to cover.Pro tip: add page tabs, highlighters, and pens to you cart along with this book.6/5 stars

This book is truly groundbreaking. Having been a real estate investor, developer, speculator and landlord over the past 35 years I can truly appreciate the honesty and the breadth of material covered in this masterpiece.There is no sell angle. No seminar to enroll in and to pay for. Just sound, up to date, in depth information on every vital commercial real estate topic. Skillfully assembled and eloquently shared.I particularly liked the chapters that cover Property Development. Nowhere have I seen a step by step guide to this otherwise overwhelmingly complicated and detailed sector of real estate investing. The topics covered and the process roadmap is truly a gift to any novice investor considering this path, as well as to seasoned developers wanting to further hone their skills or to troubleshoot their shortcomings. Brilliant!Apart from being loaded with information, I really appreciated the many money saving tips and the case studies. This really brought the book alive for me and made it a good read.Loved the solid index covering every real estate term out there…and the spreadsheets.Highly recommended.

This is an outstanding book and Resource to gain knowledge and be an outstanding Commercial real estate professional and Investor if you choose to be.

This book is full of great information and it's structured in a really creative way. Basically the book is exactly as it's titled but delivers a lot more than that.It is like an encyclopedia but, for each topic within the realm of commercial real estate you get not only definitions, but strategies and anecdotes to help you understand the concept and how it might apply to your own business. In addition, you get call-out boxes entitled "Time and Money Saving Tip", and some of these alone would be worth the price of the book.Overall, very helpful book, especially as you start to take on larger deals on your own; it's nice to have a reference to guide your thinking.

Mr. Painter does an excellent job of covering all of the critical components of commercial real estate investing. This book provides real world examples and is easy to understand. Mr. Painter is very transparent and gets straight to the point on what to expect at each step along the way. I was looking specifically for solid information on commercial lending and my expectations were exceeded by a long shot! This book is like having a seasoned mentor by your side. It is a must read and one I’ve been recommending to many of my friends and colleagues.

I had a hard time putting this book down as it is such a good read. I own 5 residential rental properties as well as a commercial building, and have wanted to expand my commercial real estate portfolio for a long time. After reading Terry Painter's book I now feel I am armed with the knowledge to start making offers on apartment buildings. I have been analyzing a lot of properties lately based on what I have learned from this book, and feel confident removing the fluff which the listing agents are often selling. I keep running into real estate terms that I would like to learn more about, like - internal rate of return (IRR). All I have to do is look it up in the book's index and not only do I get the definition, but also practical advice on how to apply the concept. The author talks about commercial real estate being a business. For anyone interested in learning this business, this book is a godsend!

I am currently engrossed in reading this book, and I must say it is truly an impressive piece of work, if not the absolute best real estate book I have come across. Having read dozens of books in this field, I can confidently state that this book stands out due to its comprehensive coverage of both the theoretical and practical aspects of various CRE strategies. In particular, the chapters on Development are exceptional and establish this book as a leading resource in the field.Considering the wealth of knowledge it offers, I believe this book will remain relevant for the next two generations, if not longer.

I work in CRE investments and found this book very useful. It has helpful information that I haven’t learned through my work experience so I definitely recommend this.
