Double Dragon NCFM043 3-layer medical disposable facial mask, 50 pieces

I’ve just received my masks by dpd and on first inspection they seem to be very good. The bag of ten is completely factory sealed properly, unlike a pack of others I ordered from another company which were ‘sealed’ in a zippy bag. They also include a date on the bag and a quality control label. Their description is up front with their advisability as to use.

Ok, well they came in a clear plastic package, not particularly medical looking. But they are pretty good, Have hoops for the ears that fit well with a squeezable bit across the nose part so you can make it fit better. The main part of it seems to be of a good quality and is pleated so you can pull it down to expand to cover your chin. I tried one at the supermarket yesterday and was pleased with it, but my glasses did still steam up a bit.

I have some doubts as to the true purpose if these masks . The packet in which they are sent to you simply refers to their use as dust masks in, for example, the construction industry. If they are truly in compliance with the relevant EU standard then surely the packaging would state this very important fact. I doubt that they can genuinely be referred to as medical masks. They do however seem to be well made and comfortable, although I have yet to wear one for any length of time. I have read that there are several ways of checking their ‘genuine’ surgical claims. Tearing the mask open will confirm if they really are 3 ply. I have yet to do this. Another test is to fold the mask into a funnel shape, with the outer part of the mask on the inside of the funnel, and pour a little water into the funnel. If the water leaks through the mask is useless. I’m pleased to report that, when I did this test, the water was completely contained in the ‘funnel’. On balance, whilst the masks may not guarantee protection from the virus if someone coughs or sneezes near you, I suspect wearing one will be better that not wearing one so, on balance, I’m happy with my purchase.

I would have preferred not to have to use these but due to the current state of affairs with this pandemic sweeping the country it may become necessary to use these more often than I would want too. A nessarry

Seem to be the same as all other masks advertised: proof against particulate matter (dust etc on building sites) and probably liquid particles (coughs, sneezes); unlikely to be any protection against air-borne viruses or bacteria but better than nothing. Very expensive compared to others on Amazon, but with a shorter lead time.

These masks took ages to arrive and did not have any paperwork whatsoever with them. They came in an ordinary press to seal bag which could be opened not a 'sealed' bag as expected so not sterile/hygenically packed. They are very thin and I think overpriced. Would not buy again. The postage was also extremely high for what could be sent as a small parcel at £3.20 instead of the £7.95 I was charged.
