Good and Sturdy
Attached very easily once I figured out they had put the hinges on the shelf backwards. I just reversed and flipped them and it attached in minutes. I have these on my other 2 ladders and they are great as a small work space on the ladder.

Like the way this has solved an on going problem,
this product has finally solved a long time problem of never having anywhere to place tools and eliminate multiple trips up and down the ladder. Great value and easy installation.highly recommend

Good Product
This was a really helpful product. No instructions were included to secure to ladder. I just use small bungee cords and worked well.

Fits and functions perfectly, no drilling needed.
Fits and functions perfectly because Werner designed and makes it for their ladders. My Werner stepladder even comes with the mounting holes for the shelf predrilled, which makes you wonder why they couldn't have just sold the ladder with the shelf already there! Still, it's exactly what I was looking for, and therefore I'm happy.

Should have come with the ladder.
This is blow molded and is sturdy enough for it's application. My only gripes are that a 6' step ladder should have the shelf included as most have for decades, and Werner should have included in this design sockets to accept their tool lasso balls (for hanging drills, air guns & other hand tools).FOR WERNER DESIGN TECHS: If you're going to *make* your customers go through the extra cost & effort to buy a shelf that should have come with the ladder, at least design into it features that enhance it's functionality, like the tool lasso sockets.

The Necessary Missing Part of the Ladder
I have seven Werner step ladders of various sizes. All are equipped with these. The only difference between the yellow and the black one is the color, and I have a couple of each of them. For me, it's annoying that ladders don't come with these installed, but I think they deleted them because some less than bright folks were using them as steps. But, there is only so much you can do to protect people from doing dumb things. The Werner ladders are predrilled with the holes necessary for mounting the brackets for these shelves. These pail shelves are substantially stronger than the ones that came with ladders 30 years ago, and the circular recess is just right for holding a quart sized paint can. A one gallon can fits perfectly in the larger square recessed area. The tool holding function of the other holes is over rated, but mostly ok.The auto-fold feature is much better than those in the old wooden shelves and almost always flips the shelf in the fully closed position. They do not auto-open, which is no big deal except possibly on the 8' ladder. For marketing purposes, I wish they would just have a single listing for the two of them, and let you specify the color as you place your order, instead of having to search around for them by color. Listings for the yellow one are usually a bit easier to find than for the black one.As noted by other reviewers, having a socket wrench does simplify installation, but it can be done with an end wrench as well - it just takes a little longer and a little more patience.I would give it a 4.5 but this review UI only supports full stars.
