Simon & Schuster Mega Crossword Puzzle Book #20 (20) (S&S Mega Crossword Puzzles) Paperback – September 1, 2020

I’ve bought these books for years because the puzzles are challenging but do-able and it will take you a while to finish this book. Puzzles and clues are a decent size to read, and the puzzles get longer as you move through the book. I just have to be sure I remember which ones I’ve completed!

I'm at the age where I am well aware of the answers, but someone younger wouldn't know what the references are. There's a smattering of references to other countries, not just the States. I don't care for the dubious sentence-long answers. It holds up completing the puzzles and mostly I look those answers up (back of book). But that's just me. Overall, I like this puzzle book. I am on my third one.

Crossword puzzles are proven to improve brain function, memory, and knowledge. It's like a Jeopardy round on paper with subjects like: geography, literature, history, science, sports, movies, tv, food, politics, pop culture, etc. There's also the satisfaction of finishing one (answers are in the back just in case!) Each book has 300 puzzles, keeping you busy every day for nearly a year. I've ordered 22 of them over the years. True story.

My wife loves these puzzle books! When she's happy, I'm happy!

These puzzle books are one of my favorite pastimes. The difficulty level is just right for me. They are printed on good quality paper, so they are easy to write on. The pages are not like newspaper. I don't like books with that kind of paper. These are the same as a good-quality printer paper, probably 24# or better. Ink doesn't bleed through the pages, and pens/pencils don't tear or emboss the paper.

I do 10-20 crosswords a day (except on Sunday, when I need the NYT Magazine and its puzzles). This is a very good bunch of puzzles of varying difficulty, and the pages are perforated for removal so you can take them anywhere. Enjoy!
