Monitoring expenditure
Fitted this device to monitor use of electricity for a particular electrical circuit. Once fitted, it showed exactly what consumption was being used. Great device. Linked to an app on the phone.

Should have a button on it, wife is not great, but it is still a great device
I use it to control a shed that I have at home with a heating system and exhaustion fan.It is great to follow up on the consumption there, especially when I was mining there. Now I'm not doing it anymore but it is still great to have it.I definitely miss having a physical button in the unit, to turn it on and off. Sometimes when you turn off using the app, it takes a while to turn it on as it does not have a good Wi-Fi reception. Other plugs next to it get my wifi signal a lot better than this.Still, this is great! it fits the circuit breaker box perfectly, it is pretty precise and can be used with the Smart Life app, which is amazing.

Great gadget
Heating up water via Alexa. It has a little app that tells you when it’s drawing electric so we then set up a routine in Alexa that turned it in then stopped when electric pull stops. So it’s not keeping water hot constantly. we can make it stop when water is hot saving lots of electric brilliant. And still have a nice warm shower, we use it for our pressurised boiler.

Great as an Immersion controller, controllable with Smart Life and IFTTT
Bought this to control my immersion heater so that each night I can (entirely automatically) pick the cheapest electric on the Octopus Agile tariff to heat my hot water instead of burning oil to do it (cleaner and cheaper). To do the above: Once wired in the unit is controllable from the free Smart Life app, where I've created a 'Tap-to-Run' recipe as a series of actions 'Turn On', 'Delay 2hrs30min', 'Turn Off'. Then with IFTTT and the free Octopus Agile triggers there, I've an IFTTT trigger that looks for the cheapest 2hr30mins of electric per day on the Agile tariff and when that happens IFTTT actions the Smart Life 'Tap-to-Run' recipe. Sometimes the electric tariff is negative so I get paid to heat my hot water. For non-variable tariffs you could just set up a nightly schedule using Smart Life only.FYI: In the description it variously says the unit width is 35mm and 39mm, it's actually 36mm.EDIT: 20 months later the relay is failing - always turns on when wanted, but often doesn't turn off.

Good quality
That is exactly what I was looking for to be able to track the usage for the electric charger

Fairly useful but does have some flaws
Purchased this switch to control my hot water immersion heater and monitor how much electricity is being used.It does the job, but there are issues. The WiFi signal produced by the switch is very weak so it needs to be very close to a router or WiFi repeater. The app has a tendency to crash fairly often when collecting data. There is also no manual override switch, if for any reason your WiFi is not working you will not be able to turn switch on or off. Instructions are so small you will require a magnifying glass to read them.

Installs upside down
As per my photo you have to install it upside down which is a bit annoying but as I’ll use the app 99.9% I am not bothered. The input for the rail is on the top but a UK consumer unit rail is at the bottom. Paired with my smart life app instantlyRealised my error I should install this into its own enclosure not into the Consumer unit as I lose the RCD. Ordered a enclosure and will re-wire via the output of the RCD. Photo included. It’s slightly over sized due to the frame but a trim with a knife solved that.
