If you have seen posters for Lincoln center, read New York Magazine or been awake at any time during the last 50 years, chances are you have seen the remarkable watercolors of James McMullan. This book surveys his work and gives an the reader a look at his talent. McMullan was affiliated with PushPin studios in its heyday but went on to work independently. His theater posters, documented in a separate book, are probably his lasting legacy. I had the good fortune to meet McMullan in his studio in the 1970's and found him to be just as complex and colorful as his work. This book is a treasure and great resource for anyone in the visual arts.
