Great little fan - a bit noisy
Works great. Fits perfectly in my Tripp Lite rack. Wish it were a little quieter, but works well for what it's supposed to do.

Great fans, with one small glitch for my setup.
These are great fans. Although they are louder than most fans and probably not good for the main room of a library, that's not a problem for me and where they are located The hum of these babies keeping my server cool is a great sound. The only problem I had with them is when I installed them in my Tripp-Lite 5U Vertical server mount (Tripp-Lite Model #SRWF5U36), the cord was 6 inches too short to reach the PDU unit I installed in it. I had to buy a 12" power cord to make the reach. That was unfortunate as it was a suggested bundle item on Amazon. The work-around was inexpensive and will work just fine, but it was annoying to have to do so. I would still rate this item between 4 and 5, but they don't give you that option on here. My only logical choice was a 4.0 out of 5.0. Like I said originally, these are great fans. They move a lot of air. My server rack is deeper than most.

Not that bad.
I read reviews that the fans would be bad, but I don't know if people are sleeping with these fans or the server rack lol. It really isn't that bad; I can walk to the other end of my basement (were the rack is) and be able to not hear it. If you do plan living or working next to your rack then it may become an issue but if your rack is in your basement it's fine. The fans are pretty powerful.

Good fans
These fans are great. Perfect mount and design, as well as air cfm. I did put spacers in between the cabinet and the fans because it was slowing down the air flow. Doing this fix the problem. Nothing big think it was about a 1/4 inch. They are loud which I wasn't concerned with but others might. If you have hot network switches take the sound over the fact that your switch is HOT. Very good quality.

Well over 50dB...
I measured the regular background noise in my home-office... it was around 55dB, except when close to the server fans, etc. This measured around 95-105dB from 6 inches away... and 75-80 from 5 feet away. Way too loud for a small environment.I'm going to be trying a 120V fan control unit (ie: for ceiling fans), to see if I can quiet them down... yes, it will lower the airflow, but I'm sure there's a happy medium...

Great fans for rack enclosures.
I think these are great fans for rack enclosures. I have no issues installing them or using them. They are loud but what fan like this is not? They move air and all is good. No one should have a problem with them.

Revised: Vendor resolved problem - Install it before the return window runs out, wiring on my unit was bad.
Unit shorted when I plugged it in, tripped the breaker. I had this to install at a client site and the return window had passed. Not happy with Amazon about the short return window or with the quality of the wiring in these fans.UPDATE: However, Tripp Lite was made it very easy to get a replacement product quickly, which worked perfectly. Top marks for their customer service when something goes wrong. Without the initial problem, this would be a 5-star review. I will do business with them again, no question.

Works great, but very noisy...
I ordered 2 of these and the payment wouldn't go through, so I requested the vendor to cancel the order and tried with another vendor. The same problem happened with that payment, so I also asked the other vendor to cancel. In the end, both of the vendors somehow cleared the payments and now I have 4 of these units, when we really only needed 2. Oh, well. I guess it's not a bad idea to keep the extras as spares, since we're in a humid environment.Installation is easy, the fans have their own enclosing boxes, to help reduce the noise and increase the air flow, but they are still pretty noisy. I wound up plugging them into the PDU's in order to be able to switch them off remotely, and will probably connect in a thermostat to kick them off when the temperature inside the enclosure drops to a reasonable range. Otherwise, I may wind up looking for a cheap VFD to control the fan speed based on the temperature.
