One word: AWESOME
I have no way to determine the thickness and the pics online made me question this purchase. Just got it and it weighs 4.6 lbs!! Is so nice I hate to test it out welding. It feels extremely durable, not cheap at all. The fit is exact, thanks to seller recommending a size, MEDIUM, based on me: 5' 7", 145 lbs, 17" shoulder width, 41" chest circumference, 35" gut. This things fits me perfectly. I am very impressed with the size, fit, quality - will update when I can comment on how it holds up to weld splatter, but it 'appears' it should do just fine. Highly recommend this so far. One thing worth noting - it smells of a horrible chemical. I hope / assume this will go away over time and airing out.

Excellent and worth the price
Purchased for a family member who works in welding and is around hot and melted metals all day. He’d been looking locally in stores for protection from sparks, metal shavings, hot flux, etc., but wasn’t able to really find what he wanted. So on to Amazon I went! When we came across this item, he said this design was perfect and had everything he was looking for when it came to proper protection for work. The material is leather, not cotton, which provides much better burn protection. It also helps keep him warm in the winter since the shop doors are often open. In warmer months, or when a job doesn’t require the full outfit, he can remove the pieces he doesn’t need. This feature right here is his favorite. Some days he’s working overhead and only needs arm and shoulder protection, other days it’s a quick weld that just requires an apron. The fact that this set of welding leathers lets you mix and match what you need is genius.Comfort-wise, there’s been no complaints. He’s been wearing this for several months now and while the pieces are definitely dirty and broken in, there’s been no issues with loose or broken snaps, ripped seams, loose threads, or anything if the sort. He’s taken the pieces apart and reconnected them hundreds of times without any trouble. I did order him a size up since these would be worn over his work clothing, and that adjustment allowed this to be a perfect fit. The leather itself is thick though flexible, and as a whole has some heft to it. It’s not so heavy as to impede walking or movement, but you do know when you have this on. The more he wears it, the more easily the leather moves and hangs, and the less he notices the weight or how long he’s been wearing it. Thankfully the leather doesn’t leave any marks on the clothing he wears underneath. I was worried it might after it becomes damp with sweat, but no color transfer or other damage has occurred.Being real leather, there was a serious stink when the shipping box was opened. You 100% definitely absolutely need to air this set out for several days. If you plan to give this set as a gift - especially for Christmas - order with enough time to air out or else the person will be able to smell these well before they open the box. It will also make the packages around it smell if not aired out. That is the only downside to this set of welding leathers - the god-awful smell. It DOES dissipate, but it takes time and a lot of wear. Looking back, I have to wonder if leather cleaner or conditioner might have helped speed up the process, or maybe laying it out flat with some baking soda heavily sprinkled across it.For an untried, unknown brand, he (and I) are very pleased with how well this set of leathers has worked. No more clothing ruined because it’s been covered in burn holes, soot, grease, synthetic lubricants, oil, and metal dust/shavings. So glad we took a chance and ordered this set of leathers!

One week in
I wrote something when the garment was new. Generally, we praise our purchase based much on first impression , as I did. Smells good, soft , and nicely sized for my medium build. Now that it’s been a week, here’s my observations. The snaps. The snaps proved to pretty poor, popping loose on the sides whenever I twist my torso. The snaps are well placed but just weak- putting anything in the kangaroo pocket of weight over a few ounces would tear the apron free of the cape. It was like I had a tear away costume. “ now on stage, The welder!” ( actually it would work for a male stripper). We use rivets in my shop so I just pop riveted the apron and cape/sleeve together. This has fixed any trouble with the snaps, but now the plastic prong clip that holds the backstrap broke. It is sub par. Also, there aren’t any tool holding slips or rings on it- maybe because of the pitiful snaps would turn loose. Also the kangaroo pockets kinda small. Other than that, It’s ok. I feel that they should get better closures overall , increase the pocket size in the front ( I forgot the ones on each shoulder for your soapstone or whatever. ) and add something to at least hang your wire cutters from like the apron I bought here from same mnfg. A few mods, and you’ll have a nice set of leather. Hope this helps.Me

Excellent welding leather cover up
The quality of the material is very heavy duty and soft. There was almost no odor on mine and what there was smelled like new leather. For size, I am 5' 9" and 160 pounds, very average build. When it comes to clothes some Mediums are too small and a Large is too big to give you an idea of what fits me.This leather is comfortable but if my shoulders were any wider it would be too tight in that area.Yes the snaps are a bunch of junk and any little tug will open them up.I replaced all of them with quality stainless steel snaps and no longer have an issue with them coming apart. For the price and what the product is it will last a long time.

Fit Well and Looks Good
My son recently started to train in the blacksmith arts. While using the gas forge, there was significantly more scale buildup on the metal, and this caused hot shrapnel with many hammer blows. Upgrading from his previous apron to this apron with sleeves has made his arms much happier when the scale goes flying. The sleeve length was good, and the sleeves were not too baggy or too tight. He is 5'10" tall and less than 120 lbs, so fairly skinny. This fits loose in the midsection, but the straps can pull it in tight. There is still some room for him to grow into the shoulders. I bought him the large because of height and arm length, and I expect he will continue to grow for a few more years.
