Strong enough to hold while still easy enough to close the door.
When I have certain windows open and the wind blows so, my indoor doors slam shut. I bought and installed magnetic door holds to combat this problem, but they weren't strong enough for one particular door. I bought this, and no more slamming door! It used the same hardware and spacing as the magnetic doorstop I had installed and then removed so it was a quick swap. I will buy again if any more doors start to slam shut when the wind blows.

Works great to control a fence gate
I have tried a number of things from the hardware store to latch a gate in a fence. They were all designed for indoor use and for doors that are much smaller and lighter than a gate. I bought one of these and installed it - it worked great and looks like it will last longer than the gate. I bought a second one for another gate.

Not just for marine use
Great door holder. Very well made.Didn't used it for a marine application used it to hold open a large swinging door between the kitchen and dinning room.

Wish the stopper was an inch longer- it is too short and now I have to call in a carpenter to build it out :(
