Gut Wrenching, Hard to watch - Because it's so true
People say her character was flat but no, Demi's acting is all in her face and eyes. 90% of our communication is non-verbal and that's Demi. From the start, you could tell Demi wanted him. The want and desire for him only increased the more she tried to avoid the feelings. Eventually, it boils over when he offered her a Million Dollars. He was smart, he gave her an excuse to go through it; without guilty. Of course, it was her idea, she wanted to do it from the start. Conveniently she used the money as a justifiable reason. People who cheat justify themselves.Even while on the boat, the guy let her choose. He even said she didn't have to sleep with him for the money and she was seduced, she wanted it bad and she slept with him out of her own volition. She made that choice to cheat and slept with a man for money. It's painful being faced with such a visceral truth about humans.Honestly, it was very hard to watch. You can easily imagine your wife, girlfriend or S.O. choosing the same thing as Demi did.Woody Harleson's character should have kicked her to curb. She betrays him over and over again by being with Robert Redford's character.

Wouldn't watch it again for a million dollars
I saw this film when it came out and not liked it. I needed some background noise, so I watched it again, to see if I had a different opinion this time. No, I didn't. I was hoping for something more than a ridiculous romance drama, but that's what it is. I was hoping for a statement about materialism, which was in vogue in America since 1980. But it turned out to be about three noxious individuals whom I would have liked to have driven their car off that pier at the story's end.But the two dopes end up happily ever after and the rich dirtbag turns out to be a nice guy, as we know all rich dirtbags are, deep down inside, just romantic fools. I couldn't take the romantic euphoria.

One of the best movies I've seen
I'm amused to see 3 and 4 star ratings from people who've watched it multiple times.I thought all acting was spot on. Being Woody's fan since Cheers, I found him particularly well cast. His line about forgetting and forgiving is memorable, but I won't quote it.The quality and variety of most scenes are notable. Classroom scenes were fun; in contrast with basically pointless (and ho-hum) sex scenes, they moved the story. The ending is touching. Not that it makes any difference to its entertainment value, the film ended much as I had hoped for -- but, if nothing else, details are far from predictable.

Forget Demi Moore
I have seen it many times. I think it is a little contrived. When it 1st came out I took a personal survey of whom would sleep with a great looking zillionaire for one night for a million dollars...ONE of my friends said no, the rest said, " Are you kidding'? Let's be realistic...this would change the life of most people.TODAY, the movie wood be so much better IF Robert Redford asked Woody Harrelson to sleep with him for a million dollars...NOW that would be a great movie.

Always a Great Movie
I think Demi More does a great job in this movie and so does Woody. I mean who would let his girl go to a Billionaire for money. Money ain't everything. Its a nice love story showing how money can ruin lives. I also like the sensual way that Robert Redford quietly seduces Demi Moore's Character. Its really a exciting movie. Always a great one.

Demi is a Treat
Demi Moore makes this movie, with an assist from Redford. It's a good script. When Demi appears the screen glows because she reeks sex appeal. Whether she's wearing a black evening gown of her suspender outfit, she is hot. Redford is a billionaire and doesn't give a shit about women, except to him it's a game. I cannot imagine him as a stud, but women are attracted to power. Woody Allen is miscast because I don't see him designing buildings, but I do see him tending bar. He has an eager to please look, which has zero sex appeal.

He's still as good looking as ever
It was refreshing to see Robert Redford play an off-type, somewhat 'snarky' character. He's still as good looking as ever, but he also seemed too old to be playing this role. Especially considering that Demi was so much younger. This made it appear as if he wanted her as another object for his collection. Demi Moore was at the height of her acting career, however; I think she could have brought more depth to her character. Woody Harrelson did very well in one of his first dramatic roles. I could sense the anguish and anger that would come about had this been real. All in all; it was a thought provoking movie and has probably lent to many discussions of the morals involved.

Timeless, thought provoking film
Although made in 1993, the theme and questions posed by this film are timeless. David and Diana are a young couple very much in love but find themselves in financial difficulty during a recession. During an evening at a casino where they try to win some cash they meet enigmatic billionaire John Gage, who goes on to offer the cash strapped couple a deal: he'll give them $1 milllon for one night with Diana. It's a very tempting offer and would end their money worries, and they are strong enough as a couple to survive just one night.... aren't they?A moral dilemma and it's repercussions on relationships and lives is played out with strong performances from the leads. Gripping, heartbreaking, entertaining and thought provoking, this offers a lot more than much of the 'fluff' produced today. I thought enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone who enjoys an intelligent film.
