Don’t run, good wifi 6 system!
I bought this to take advantage of my full internet connection speed. I’m getting 460Mbps next to the router which I’m pretty damn happy with. I read the reviews after I ordered and figured I was just gonna send it right back since so many people struggled. However, my setup was easy (although kind of long) and the speeds are great. Also, I’m getting great coverage in my 3,300 sq ft 2 story block home out of just 2 nodes. I don’t know what everyone is complaining about. These things are great! If you want to know more, read on. I pay for and get 500/500 fiber internet when tethered at the modem. With my Linksys Velop wifi 5 mesh system (3 nodes) I was getting max 200Mbps standing next to the wireless router. I was also experiencing dead spots around the house. Stubborn ones where even when a node reading 200Mbps was in the next room I still had issues. Bottom line is I can’t manage two fantasy football teams and give my wife advice on her team while I’m on the can when my bathroom is a wifi dead spot! So this system came up “used - good condition” for a fair price and I decided to give it a go. I mean, I don’t care if my wifi routers have cosmetic damage greater than 1 inch. Setup was a little slow, but easy. Biggest problem was that I didn’t realize there’s a difference between router and satellite. Hook the one with 2 Ethernet ports to your modem. The single Ethernet port is the satellite. Updates took awhile but all good. Tested around the house, now I’m getting 460 down standing next to the router, totally acceptable to me. Btw, that’s on an iPhone 11 Pro which has a wifi 6 card. Make sure you test with something that is wifi 6 enabled. System only has two nose and I’m getting at worst to 170 Mbps in the farthest corners of my house. So this is a great buy. I think other users are just not doing it right. I don’t know, but don’t runaway from a good system at a good price. I highly recommend buying used on a product like this.

Great value, Easy Setup, Solid Performance
For those who are unable or not ready to upgrade to Orbi, this may be the next best option. I needed a quick, yet solid and somewhat modern solution to pair well with a Nighthawk CM2050V Xfinity modem with voice services. This solution provided me the Wifi 6 platform that I wanted for modern Wifi devices in our home ecosystem and the flexibility to segment our IoT and computer devices from Guest Access. So far, I am pleased with the performance and consistency that we needed. This serves as the interim solution until symetrical fiber is deployed to our community in the forthcoming year. The coverage and connect speeds are good in any room of our 2,000 square foot home. The router and satellite are small and were easily hidden out of view while maintaining a good signal throughout the single-story building. I don't see a need for an addition satellite at this time, as signal strength is excellent.

Great used or refurbished item
Wasn't in original package but had EVERYTHING needed to activate. Did boosr signal strength to a doorbell cameras. Great price for a gently used item.

Great Coverage
When I received this product it set up quite easily and the wifi coverage was excellent. It wasn't long, however, that I noticed the satellite (MS60) was having problems. Over several days I corresponded with Netgear support until I was just fed up with spending all of my time troubleshooting and having my wifi down half the time. I arranged a replacement through Amazon while I reinstalled my Linksys wifi router. A new system arrived in a few days which I set up in parallel with my Linksys system allowing 48 hours before proceeding. After making most of the required settings for my network I further tested for another 24-36 hours. The system is now online and is performing quite well. Several problems have cropped up since coming online. Firstly most of my attached devices had some problems reconnecting which did not happen the first time around. A problem which is being widely discussed in the Netgear Community is the inability to have separate SSIDs for the 2.4 and 5GHz wifi bands. This 'feature' is intended to make the reconnecting to either band without intervention as portable devices like your phone or tablet are moved around the wifi mesh. The problem comes when you have devices that only operate in the 2.4GHz wifi band. Many do so because the 2.4GHz band has a longer reach which is important as many of these devices are located in diverse locations around the home where there are intervening walls. Many of these devices require an app on a phone or tablet for their setup and require that device to be connected to the 2.4GHz wifi band which is not possible in the current design as phones and tablets are designed to connect to the best available wifi signal and I have found no way to change this behavior. Certain apps claim to be able to do this but none have succeeded on my devices. Some have suggested taking your phone or tablet to a location where the 5GHz signal is weak causing the device to choose the 2.4GHz band. This almost works but on my devices the connection dithers between bands while attempting setup of the intended device. My solution was to use a TPLink wifi extender from my shop building which only operates in the 2.4GHz band. I moved the extender into my house and set it up with a distinct SSID which I use exclusively to connect to my 2.4GHz only devices like my Ambient Weather weather station, my MyQ garage door controller, and my Sonoff TH16 remote temperature sensor. I know Netgear has been swamped with requests to change this behavior if possible and I await that although at this point my current solution may be a better one. All in all Netgear was responsive, at least in the way that all of these tech companies are responsive, i.e. "yes I already powered it off and stood on one leg and swung a dead chicken over my head" and all of the scripted suggestions that you get.

Great starter mesh system
I’ve been searching around for a mesh WiFi system for a while now. Most systems seemed too expensive/robust for my purposes. Found the Netgear Nighthawk mesh WiFi system on sale a decided to pull the trigger. Very happy with the easy setup, the performance and the extended range from my previous modem/router combo. I have my PC hardwired into one of the satellites and I am getting the max ISP speed that I’m paying for. Have close to 20 devices connected between phones, computers, tv’s, etc. I am getting consistent download/upload speed in every room, where before with my previous WiFi router/modem the performance would vary greatly depending on where I was. This is a major upgrade and I would highly recommend.

I Had to Pay to Return a Faulty Device
Summary: 1. If your gear stops working you have to pay to ship back gear that is faulty even though it isn't your fault 2. They replace faulty gear with refurbished gear, not new gear. How long will it work this time? 3. They don't send you a power cord and expect you to buy a new one, despite already spending money on shipping the faulty device in the first place. How am I to test this gear that was sent to me without power? 4. They will have you spend hours "troubleshooting" the faulty device and have you repeat things until you tell them enough is enough. 5. Warranty is only 90 days on this product, and after 90 days you have to pay a subscription in order to talk to technical support. 6. Don't do it, it's not worth the hassle. The details about my experience: I purchased the Nighthawk system that came with 2 satellites per a recommendation from a friend who works in the networking industry. The system worked so well that I decided to add on another satellite for a blind spot that I had on my Ring system. The satellite worked for 2 months then all of a sudden got stuck in a loop cycle trying to connect. I went on to Reddit to try to figure out what I could do. I spent 2 hours following different suggestions then gave up and called Netgear customer service the next day. I humored the representative because I know they have a script to follow but he had me do everything I already tried. After 2 hours with him I had to put my foot down and said that I wasn't going to waste any more time on a clearly faulty unit. He got me set up to do an exchange. Tell me why I had to pay my own money to return a product that stopped working that was still under warranty? I shrugged that idea off and mailed it off anyway. When I got my replacement it was not a new one but a refurbished one, most companies will replace a nonfunctioning product with a new one, but again as long as it works, whatever. They sent me no power cord. I called back customer service and they said there was nothing they could do and told me I had to buy a power cord because I accidentally sent my power cord to them. He said there was no way to track where my power cord was because he didn't know where it was sent. I had the address and he still refused to help me. Netgear wants you to pay for their mistakes on faulty gear and refuses to make things right. Invest into a better system and a better company. Also I found out that after 90 days from your purchase you have to pay for technical support and you cannot replace any non functioning gear. Not even a year warranty!

Solid Upgrade
I had an earlier version of the NightHawk router in a central location of my house. Since our house is a L shape the corners had sub par signal, so this system was an excellent upgrade. I moved the router in this kit closer to one side of the house, and put the extender half way in between the other side of the house and the router. We have full coverage everywhere and similar speeds whether we are standing right next to it, or at the far corner of the house. Another bonus feature of using a mesh style network [ compared to a plug and play extender ] is this system extends your current network and does not create another network. We have a hand full of LAN controlled devices that do not communicate with the outside world [ printer, smart receiver, etc. ] that can be controlled from everywhere. If we used a generic extender it would have created a second network and we would have lost some functionality. Setup was a breeze too. I am an IT professional but have also recommended this setup to several friends who are not experienced in this field. They downloaded the Netgear app and set it up within ten to fifteen minutes. One person said it took them longer to get both devices unpackaged than it did to set it up which is amazing. We are three months into using this system and I do not have a single complaint. It definitely gets a 10/10.

So far, stable and fast with a straight-forward setup
I’ll get right to brass tacks. Replaced an ASUS AC1800 router with this. Here are the differences. AC1800: 2.4 GHz - ~50 Mbps 5.0 GHz - ~150Mbps 2.4 covered whole house and partial yard. 5 did not cover whole house. House is 2700 sq. ft. ranch style. Netgear AX1800 mesh: Provided picture of connection near main router (over 300 Mbps) and at the edge of my 1/2 acre property (around 20Mbps). This test was done with a Fing Box on my network and my phone. Setup was quick and easy, no issues at all. Able to adjust advanced settings via web browser easily. No connection drops as of yet even with many IoT devices that previously were on the edge of the previous router’s range. My only con so far is that the guest network does not appear to broadcast as far, making me think it’s only going through the router and not the satellite. Annoying, but not a huge deal. Note: Using Cox cable 300/30 with Nighthawk CM1200 modem. Wired connections work at rated speeds through a small netgear managed switch. Hope that helps. If I experience notable issues I’ll update this.
