because it looked fun. And it is
I bought this book kind of on a whim, because it looked fun. And it is. In fact, I think of it as a marriage of the Unix geek ethos with The Whole Earth Catalog (for those of you old enough to know what that is) with the Flying Circus of Physics thrown in. This guy loves what he's talking about, and is smart enough that he doesn't feel he has to impress you with his brilliance -- he just wants you to understand and enjoy.

Fun with Math and Python
This is a great little book on mathematical and scientific implementation using python. Though not exhaustive, the author touches several common areas of computational math and provides good code snippets and algorithms for the same. The explanation is very clear and interesting. Its a nice book to have in your shelf especially if you are interested in mathematics and artificial intelligence. The famous numpy and matplotlib packages of python were used almost everywhere. All the code was implemented in python 2.7, would have been better if python 3.X was used, Apart from that this book is worth the price and time.

Great presentation on using Python, but caution advised
Wonderful book, but a caution or two in order. A huge plus is that this book gives usage examples I haven't seen in several other Python books I have. In my opinion this book is head and shoulders above others in its presentation of how to make good use of Python's features. It loses one star however because it's really a Python 2, not Python 3, book, so examples are given with no warning that they won't work in Python 3 (but if you test the example, or have a fair knowledge of Py-3, you'll be OK. Another potential problem (not the author's fault I think) is that there are multiple revisions of this book, so you really need to check that you are ordering version 3.0 or later.

Good, but the title can mislead you
I liked the book. It is not exactly what I was expecting, but it is good. The first two parts of the book is an extensive and detailed Python tutorial. I did not expected such a tutorial considering the book title. The third part is what I was expecting. So, I would like much more if the entire book was like the third part.

Outstanding authorship.
The author does a fantastic job of introducing multiple subjects into one book. The approach he uses to teaching both math and programming is a talent he was born with, and not developed over the years. I can't recommend this book enough.

This book helps me a great deal. And is relatively easy to understand
This is the book that I have been waiting for. I am into writing computer modeling programs which is very math based. This book helps me a great deal. And is relatively easy to understand.

A Beautiful Book!
This is a beautiful book!I have several books on Python. None as good as this one. I wish I were his student!I would like to learn Lebesgue integral from this author.Great teacher. You will learn not only Python and Math too from this book.A minor gripe: Too many tupos, but you can read past it. All code is Python 2,7.

Great book with typos.
Awedome, fun book. Lots of interesting projects. Great as an intro to python and scientific computing for the mathematically inclined. The exposition is witty and entertaining. Although, there are a lot of typos, mostly obvious, occurring a few times in every chapter.
