Creative Teaching Press Math Minutes Book, Grade 1 (One Hundred Minutes to Better Basic Skills)

These books are excellent. As a former high school math teacher, it's important to me that my children build a strong background in math while in elementary school. These books were the perfect summer review. (There were a couple concepts the kids didn't know, but most parents would be able to show them how to do these problems.) Each "minute" is quick, even when the kids don't finish within a minute, we have them finished, checked, and corrected within 10 minutes. It reviews a variety of concepts at each grade level without being burdensome. I will probably continue to order these for my kids each summer, although we've only done the odd minutes so my younger child can reuse the older child's book!

This is a great workbook to avoid Summerside. Will most likely keep doing it throughout the year as a warm up and to keep fresh math concepts.

Great math practice! My son's teacher told us about these workbooks. It covers every level of math and all categories in the subject as well. It slowly advances to help challenge but not discourage. Amazingly fun and competitive.

I love the presentation for the kids. Simple & clean. They are confident knowing they only have to do 1 page of math. I really loved using these for summer workbooks and will buy again for next year.

This series is great to use with older students who lack basic skills as well as with younger kids. I use it with high needs secondary students though it often takes quite a bit longer than a minute to do each exercise! The series is sequential with lots of repetition and review and it includes life skills such as money and clock practice which are important in a curriculum for older students with developmental delays. I also like that in the beginning books they sometimes provide a number line and sometimes objects to count for help with addition and subtraction problems. All in all a superior series that seems to appeal to all types of kids.

I use Math Minutes as a diagnostic program in my classroom. I like the way the skills are set up and the progression of more challenge as you move through the book. :)
