It works well and we just had an accidental!
I was hesitant to buy this as it appeared that most of the positive reviews were from people that had not experienced accidents in the seat. I have been potty training my almost three year old for almost a month. We are doing well but still have the occasional mishap. I actually bought this cover for an upcoming trip where (fingers crossed) she would be able to make it over two hours without going potty. The cover arrived tonight and just for kicks I put it in her car seat (Britax Marathon). It fit perfectly. At this point we had somehow managed to not have any accidents in the car. Not even two hours after having the cover on the car seat, it was tested. We had a short outing and upon arriving home, I noticed her jeans were wet. Not feeling confident (after reading the reviews describing this as nothing more than a paper towel) I yelled for my husband to check the car seat as I cleaned my little pee monkey up. He brought in the cover and said that the only pee that got on the actual car seat was a little on the buckle where the cover has a hole (you can see in the product pics it's where the buckle feeds through). We were pleasantly surprised. I will note that my daughter was wearing jeans that probably aided in the absorption. Anyway, the cover is now hanging in our laundry room drying. I am satisfied with the $13 investment! Update- 12/2015- had this car seat cover a couple of months and daughter just threw up all over herself and car seat. This seat protector performed perfectly as we were able to remove it and just clean the straps that harness her in (we were two hours into a three hour trip through winding mountains). She had thrown up all over her pants but nothing got on her actual car seat due to this seat cover. I'm thinking we will keep this seat cover on her car seat even after she is done with potty training just to protect against other things like getting sick or spilling juice, eat.

A clear winner!
I purchased 3 carseat liners to test them myself. The Britax Seat Saver Waterproof liner, the Summer Infant total coverage car piddlepad and the Summer infant deluxe piddle pad. I put them on our high chairs, poured 1/4 cup water on each of them and waited 5 minutes to see what would happen. The Britax soaked in all the water, but the bottom side was totally dry. The Summer infant deluxe piddle pad came in 2nd, while it soaked in some of the water some stayed beaded up on top of the fabric. None leaked through the bottom. Finally, the Summer total coverage piddlepad came in last. None of the liquid soaked through, it all stayed beaded up on top. So if it was urine, taking a kid out of the seat it would have run all over and still made a mess. No liqud soaked through the fabric so I can't really say if the bottom liner is waterproof or not. We are returning both summer piddle pads and purchasing more of the Britax for both of our cars. FYI if you are considering the summer piddle pads, they are exactly the same size (though one advertises extra large waterproof protection). The same pattern is used to make both pads. The Britax has the most coverage out of all 3 models. I hope that helps!

it's just about perfect. I never have any problems with it scrunching ...
This is four stars because my son hasn't actually peed in it yet, so I can't say how well it will do actually containing the mess. If it does as well as promised, when it occurs I will change it to five. But as to how it fits in a Britax car seat, it's just about perfect. I never have any problems with it scrunching up under my son or twisting around under him in the seat. It stays in place when I pull him out, and he seems to not even notice it's there which is what I was hoping for. He's particular about his seats. I don't know how well it works in other types of car seats/booster seats but as it was made by Britax I imagine it's going to fit the best in that particular brand of seats. The materials seems very durable and high-quality thus far, but again it hasn't been 'used' yet so it hasn't been washed either. We'll update this when we have a more 'comprehensive' review of this product. ;) Edit One: So, after over a year of use I have a few more things to add. I have now potty trained a boy and a girl using this product, and have opposing views on this item depending on which gender you have. For my boy, he only had two accidents while in the car using this potty pad. However, both times the accident went outside of the area protected by the pad. I believe this has mostly to do with the fact that he's a boy. The leakage would begin on the strap that runs up between the legs (and is not protected by the potty pad) and would then soak down into the rest of the seat. Obviously, as any parent of a boy knows, the pee goes everywhere, so I guess short of those awful plastic pants no one uses anymore finding the perfect 'catch-all' product probably isn't going to happen. As for my daughter, she's had a few accidents in it as well, and for her it's done much better. We haven't had any leakage or spillage onto anything else, and it washes and dries really well. I do air dry mine after washing, just to be safe, but it doesn't take long. In Summary: Awesome for girls! Less so for boys. The average of 5 stars and 3 stars is 4, so the rating remains. I still would recommend this in general for smaller children. I bet this would have saved me a couple of car seat cleanings when poo-splosions happened, and taking apart car seats to wash them is an absolute pain!

Safe and effective
I bought this for my Britax car seat, which I had bought knowing I’d eventually buy this car seat protector. 99% of these are after market, which means they have NOT been crash tested, especially with each individual seat. This has been, and my toddler finds it comfortable. I will say that the back folds down at times which is annoying. Thankfully she hasn’t had an accident in it yet, but I know we’re protected if/when she does. I 100% recommend this to anyone who has a Britax car seat and is thinking about potty training. I intend to give mine to my nephew when he is ready (they also have the same seat).

Slips around,it's not a diaper-it won't absorb leaks but keeps car seat cover dry from accidents!
People, I think it's unfair to expect this to absorb liquids like a diaper and completely protect your car seat on its own. It's waterproof, yes. But theres no absorbent material inside. It will contain poo and pee explodes for a child with diapers on its own, but if ones child is starting potty training, one needs to use this together with diapers at the bottom. A toddler can pee ALOT, and you can't expect this to absorb it all - of course if will seep through. We pad the seat with diapers - just open up 2-3 diapers and put them below this seat liner, on top of the car seat. Those will catch any stray messes and absorb the excess pee. When my son was with diapers, we just had to wash this when pee/poo leaked out of his diapers. Now that's he's in underwear, we only had to throw away the diapers soiled with pee and wash this liner. It works if you get more creative. I don't think there's any other seat that's padded like a diaper to fully absorb any leaks anyway. Yes, it moves. I Tried taping it down so my son can climb up the car seat without this slipping... Kinda works but becareful the tape isn't too sticky and destroys the car seat. It's not perfect, but I don't think there's another seat liner out there that is perfect anyway. Stop complaining and use it to your advantage!

The best of the best!
This is the best car seat pad out there! I've used three brands (summer infant, diono, and britax), and this was the favorite hands down. It has a liner on the bottom so it grips to the seat, which is awesome for kids climbing into the car seat themselves because it limits the sliding. The Diono pad would regularly rotate backwards, rendering it useless, when my son climbed into his seat. (It's worth noting that the Diono did well with absorbing liquid, though, as long as it was in place.) As far as functionality goes, it gets five stars! I have two toddlers (both boys), and both of them have "tested" this pad for its absorbency...with both urine and poop. I'll spare you the details, but trust me: it works. Very well. It washes beautifully. It's seen some things, man, but always comes out looking like new! I wash it on cold, and let it air dry-but the times I've accidentally put it in the dryer on a low tumble, it didn't alter the shape or effectiveness. I have three of these Pads and one Diono pad. Two are always in use, and two I keep as backup. These aren't a "I'll die without this!" Item, but for the work it saves in having to clean a convertible car seat, in my opinion, it's absolutely worth the cost.

Best safe car sweat accessory of all time
I recently bought a britax car seat mainly because of this accessory. Car seat safety is important to me and therefore I haven’t used after market seat covers on the other car seats we have that do not have a cover like this made by the seat mfg. When I saw britax made this, it sealed the deal for me on which brand car seat I was going to buy. This cover is amazing and has saved me from having to clean the car seat on many occasions. It absorbs well. Keeps the liquid where it needs to be, fits well around the buckles, and has been leak proof. Worth every penny!

Lifesaver for the master of diaper blowouts
So, my 13-month old has regular blowouts. Like All. The. Time. The sheer volume of poo he expels on a regular basis causes us to have high anxiety any time we are anywhere outside of the home and he hasn't pooped yet. And he always seems to have them when we are sitting in standstill traffic, or while he's in the highchair, or in the middle of the night in his crib. We've tried making sure there is a cloth liner, or paper pad, or spare cloth diaper (but can't buckle the carseat properly with any of those) to no avail. DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO LIVE IN CONSTANT FEAR OF NOT BEING ABLE TO WASH POO OUT OF SOMETHING? Also, do you know how long it takes a carseat cover to dry, if you can even take it off the carseat? FOREVER. And it still smells! Cue this Seat Saver. On a trip home from a friend's party an hour away, he had a massive blowout just as we got onto the bridge, and sat in traffic in the toll lane. As soon as we could, we pulled over and all 3 of the adults in the car jumped out to get him out of the seat to change his diaper in the trunk. He had mess upon mess, coming down his leg, poop up his back. But the expen$$$$ive carseat fabric was safe because of this seat saver (yes, poo got onto the seat saver, and easily washed out). In short, this is TOTALLY worth every penny.
