The Ideology of Indifference
We live in a world where anything different is proceed as wrong. If there were in fact supers living among us then our culture would drive them to one inevitable end, and that is "Alienation." Hero or villain is a matter of perspective. Anyone that imposes their will or beliefs upon us is a villain even if it is for our benefit, and anyone who accepts our beliefs and ideals is a hero. This could not be any more true then from the perspective of a child. This movie is an excellent representation of perception and indifference towards incongruity. Each character has a different perspective and drive to achieve their personal goals. When they fail to work together to reach those goals they find destruction and failure. How true does that echo life?I gave this 4 stars for one issue. If our nation lost a metropolitan city to a terrorist's attack, then everyone's life would change across the nation. After 911 all airports drastically increased security and it has been that way for years. After a few school shootings it has become commonly place to see security and metal scanners at most inner-city schools. In this storyline Supers have a distinguishing feature. If we suffered such an attack, then every store and public venue would have black light doors and random security checks. Patrols would be as common as ICE agents along the boarders, yet what we seen of the outside world in this story is little more than some graffiti. Sure the men in gray kill on sight, but they are totally invisible unless called? Social imposition for safety are never invisible. They have to be seen to prove that they are working.

Slow moving and very different
Living in what seems to be a very decrepit house is Chloe, age 7 and her father. Her father protects her, telling her that there are bad people outside and she must stay inside. The bad guys want to kill her. Yet, from the outside, the house seems normal and fits into the neighborhood. Oh, and Chloe’s father has piles of money and weapons. It turns out Chloe has special gifts, most of which she doesn’t know about yet. She is an ‘abnormal,’ subject to being shot on sight. There is only a very oblique reference to abnormals and that they were rounded up and sent away but no origin story. But the abnormals/freaks have to hide. The movie is quite slow paced, and only slowly is one witness to Chloe’s abilities, and can see why it would make her a danger to the government. And they are quite substantial abilities, making for a movie that is quite different from most others.

great storyline
i really liked this movie. Entertaining and held my interest all the way through; and keeps you guessing back and forth as to who is really the bad guy. First you'll think its the dad, then you'll suspect its the neighbor family, then you'll think its creepy old snowcone guy... I like movies that mess with you like that! Unique plot that blends several genres together. Worth the watch.

A thriller, horror, sci-fi combo worthy of a watch…
Freaks turned out to an overall intriguing watch that held my interest- 4 stars. Recommend if you’re looking for something new to watch in the genres or looking to pass the time.***Do not continue reading unless you don’t mind some spoilers*********What’s it about? Chloe lives with her father in semi-isolation. She’s taught to act normal and stay inside as the bad guys will kill her and her father if they go outside. Chloe has met another little girl, Harper, who lives across the street and she learns things her father doesn’t want her learning. Enter the somewhat creepy ice cream man (perhaps a nod to the movie?) and things slowly begin to unravel and make sense. At this point, the movie picks up the pace. Prior to this, it tries to be mysterious, scary, and confuse the viewer (I personally didn’t think it was needed as it would have stood on it’s own without this but maybe you’ll feel different). Once it gets moving, we learn that Chloe and her family are the abnormals, aka freaks, and a government agency is trying to eliminate them as the second generation has powers unlike any ever seen. If the cast hadn’t been so fabulous, I would have rated it lower, but they upped the ante. There’s a lot more to it, but will leave it at this as I’m not giving away all spoilers. If you’re looking for a thriller, horror, sci-fi combo, this is it. Definitely worthy of a watch.Parental guidance/trigger warnings: some swearing, violence (woman and man gets their eye stabbed with a pen, physical fighting, bombs dropped), death (via guns or mentions of other ways), father puts daughter in a closet when she doesn’t listen, experiments on people/locking them in a facility against their will, forcing people to do things against their will.

What Happens When Talents Merge?
When you have a really well-written script, fine directing and perfect film editing, all you need is a great cast. I thought every actor and actress in the film brought this suspenseful, action-packed story to life spectacularly. As it takes all of the viewer's attention to follow the story and to learn, bit by bit, what's going on, especially when anything can happen, you'll need to stop texting and keep your eyes on the screen. The young lead actress, Lexy Kolker, who was apparently not yet ten years old when she took on the challenging and complex role of Chloe, a little girl, who, from start to finish, is on one heck of an emotional roller coaster, Lexy absolutely shined as an actress and really breathed life and believability into her character in every way. The entire cast needed to be that good, and they were, or this story could never have come off as well as it did on the screen. I give "Freaks" two thumbs up and one bloody eye.

Watch this movie you freaks
Good acting and interesting story. Music and soundtrack good. Not much in the way of massive special effects, because most of the movie is inside scenes. It was made on the cheap after all.It is a little light on the back ground and the story is pretty small in scope. But, keep in mind it isn't a $400m MCU blockbuster.I don't think there will be more, which is unfortunate.

Unique Sci-Fi movie
A different take on the supernatural humans movie genres.Fairly captivating, and thrilling at times. The child actress is actually quite a solid little actress, which was nice, as I find child actors to over-do-it too often. She seems to be quite natural. Not a horror movie by any means. This is a drama/thriller, with a freakish sci-fi twist.

Great movie
If you enjoyed the Drew Barrymore classic "The Firestarter" I expect you will enjoy this movie as well. A very similar story about special people with telekinetic abilities.

Decent but not memorable
An interesting concept but it doesn’t pack much of a punch considering the content of the story. If there’s more to follow, it at least stands as decent world-building, but as a stand-alone it’s a little underwhelming.
