ColumbiaMen's Redmond V2 Hiking Shoe

Since I purchased these shoes I've worn them in the rain in Maryland, the cloud forest in Panama's mountains, and in two rainy seasons in Panama. They are waterproof as long as you don't step in water that goes above the top laces. Even in Maryland summers and Panama my socks only got slightly damp from sweat. I really wasn't expecting waterproof hiking shoes to be breathable, so I was pleasantly suprised.The soles gripped the ground so I felt secure when hiking on muddy, rocky trails. I'm in my 70's so having secure footing is a must. These shoes performed wonderfully!

After wearing these shoes for just over a month, I noticed that one of the shoes is wearing much faster than the other. I have never had this happen to me with any other shoes I have owned. I think that this will be the last time for shoes made by Columbia!

This review is as much for the original redmond as it is the V2. Iam a regular hiker, doing 5-15 miles of moderate to strenuous hiking per week. I bought the original columbia redmond hiking shoes a couple years ago, and after 500-700 miles of hiking they were still comfortable and kept me going through any terrain. The only reason I was looking to buy a new pair of hiking boots was the tread had worn down almost to the bare in a couple of high pact spots of my stance.I wanted to stick with columbia's but the local store was out of my size, and I found a killer deal on a pair of merrel's so I decided to switch brands. After one hike with the merrells I returned them. They just weren't nearly as comfortable and I was beginning to develop calluses on a couple spots. I but the bullet and paid full price for the redmond V2's, and after a couple hikes I couldn't be happier, they're just as great as the old pair. I'm a columbia hiking shoe person for life!

I really like these shoes and personally a big fan of Columbia shoes. I read the views knowing that the wide may not be wide enough. The price came down so i could not pass it up. I wear wide and yes they are not as wide as other columbia shoes, I took a recent pair that I purchased and compared them. I noticed that this shoe even though a wide is maybe a quarter inch narrower than my other Columbia purchase.I would recommend getting the wide shoe even if you do not wear a wide simply because it would be more comfortable I gave 4 stars because it is tad bit narrow for a wide but I am keeping the shoes, maybe after wearing them for a bit they will stretch a little and fit more comfortably.

I got them for my friend while I was in Germany (because it doesn't ship directly to our home EU country). He said to give 6 stars, most comfortable shoes ever!He had a pair for a few years, but they were falling apart and he bought Redmond V3, but didn't like them. They were made in India instead, felt cheaper in quality and weren't as comforable so he returned them and searched for V2 again. He's really happy to have V2s again!

Initially, less than impressed, the right shoe inner heel seems less firm than the left and the left shoe was a bit tight on the toes but after several hikes over forestry trails they seem to have settled in. On the plus side, fairly robust and really lightweight. I'm yet to be convinced they're waterproof but time will tell!

So, I had a pair of Columbia " Redmond " hiking shoes that I really enjoyed & the fit was perfect ( size 11 mens ).I ordered these as a replacement but ordered 11.5 because that was the only size they had in a regular width. I am very glad I ordered the 11.5 because these are smaller in size than the pair I previously had. I could actually use a Mens 12 and they would fit well. Point being: If you are basing your purchase on a previous pair of Columbia Shoes, order one size bigger or they probably won't fit

Bought a pair of these in august 2020 to replace a pair similar pair which had lasted at least 5 years of moderate walking and site seeing trips. The new ones started to leak and seams break after 2 years of similar wear. Continued to wear in the dry weather, but would not recommend if you want a pair of waterproof walking boots.
