Excellent stuff, better than antibiotics for UTI
My elderly cat got her first urinary tract infection. She was going into the litter box every 5-10 minutes, straining for a long time, and only a few drops of urine were coming out. I knew what that meant, as I'd had a male cat before who developed crystals in his urine which blocked his urinary tract. Fearing that she too had crystals and not just a bacterial infection, I rushed her to the vet. They said there was blood in her urine, but that their urinalysis did not reveal any indication of crystals. The vet also noted that her urine was at pH 6. So it was in a normal range, and yet her white blood cell count was high, indicating an infection. The vet was somewhat alarmed by the slightly low pH because usually bacteria can not exist in that acidic range. I explained that I had given her some of this stuff the night before and she went "Ohhh, OK". Anyway, this gel has DL-methionine, which is an amino acid which is known to acidify the urine. It is often added as an ingredient to urinary health cat foods. BUT this gel also contains a high amount of cranberry and some vitamin C, both of which also naturally acidify urine. I know from my own experience that I HATE, ABHOR taking antibiotics. The vet prescribed my cat $48 of Clavamox. I've used it before commonly to treat my pets when they've had infections such as abscesses or other injuries. It's always given them severe diarrhea but it does the job. In this case, I didn't want to subject my elderly kitty to such a harsh treatment when in my own personal experience, cranberry does an even better job and faster too. I've been able to curb my own UTI's in one day by taking concentrated Whole herb cranberry capsules. Well, I bought the antibiotics just so the vet wouldn't think I was neglecting my cat. Didn't touch it or even open the box. Its still sitting in the fridge. I just kept giving her an inch of Uri Ease every day. Within days her symptoms were gone. Just to be sure I applied the gel to her everyday for a week. She HATES eating anything that she know she HAS TO eat. So even supplements that taste good, if I mix them into canned food, she will not eat it. So the gel form is perfect for my purposes. Since cats can't stand having 'dirty' in their fur, I just apply the gel to her side and within minutes she has licked it off. Sorry, long story, but the point is this: Uri Ease Gel is a must-have in any cat-owner's arsenal. They are all prone to UTI's and males especially to kidney and bladder issues, so it never hurts to be prepared. AWESOME PRODUCT!!! -------------------------- IMPORTANT UPDATE as of mid-2011 or so. This product has been re-formulated so that it's now less than 40X as potent as before!!! See my comment for ingredient and content/dosage changes. Thanks!

GOOD SUPPLEMENT - BUT MIGHT NEED ...
TLDR: Nutri-Vet Uri-Ease UTI is a really good supplement - however we needed to add "In Clover Flow UT Health in Cats" for our kitty to finally stop getting chronic UTIs. Our British shorthair cat with chronic UTIs and a sensitive stomach loves both of these "treats," and hasn't had any UTI symptoms for the past 6 months! She used to never drink water, but now loves to drink from her water bowl at least 3x per day; also, she has become a little less overweight, which is a great thing for her health too! FULL STORY: We have a lovely British short-haired cat who has always been slightly chubby. She is a very picky eater with a very sensitive stomach. Most importantly - she never drank from her water bowl and had a difficult time cleaning herself after using the little box (again, she's a little bit chubby). About a year ago she developed her first UTI. We called the vet, who then put her on antibiotics and gave her fluids. For one month, she was fine, but then had UTI symptoms again. The vet said we had a chronic UTI cat. For the next 30 days, we gave her tons of liquids (more brothy and gravy-filled foods and tried every way to convince her to drink more water from water fountains, to ice cubes, to all shapes, sizes, and temperatures of water bowls to no avail), we tried apple cider vinegar treatments and Nutri-Vet's UTI cranberry gel, but after 30 days, she had a UTI again. In desperation, we tried Flow, not expecting it to work, getting ready for more vet bills every month. However, SURPRISE SURPRISE, Nutri-Vet Uri-ease UTI gel AND "In Clover Flow UT Health in Cats" ("Flow") worked amazingly!!! Every morning, we give her a little dollop of Nutri-Vet cranberry gel; however, we rely more on giving her the "Flow" treats to keep her healthy, hydrated, and UTI-free. Today, our cat now drinks water on her own from her water bowl at least 3x per day with no coaxing! Also, she's been losing weight, eating better, and acting like a happy kitty once again. And finally, and most importantly, she hasn't had a UTI since we started using Nutri-Vet combined with "Flow" six months ago. For our kitty household, these are as important as food and water, with us usually giving 1 dollop of Nutri-Vet Uri-Ease gel each morning, plus 1, 2, or 3 "Flow" treats each night for our 13-pound British shorthair cat. To the people who created "Flow" and Nutri-Vet - you guys are lifesavers - literally. Thank you!!

Not a gel! Unrealistically and unusably dense.
I bought this because I thought the lower amount of Methionine (120mg) would be easier on my little guys system. After the purchase, I started reading some the reviews; Uh-Oh. Peope (and cats) loved the original formulation, the tube with the white cap. People (and cats) in general hated the new formulation, the tube with the black cap. Well, I got the black cap tube, but I thought, let me give it a try. Previous reviews were not kidding! I could not squeeze this stuff out of the tube! I put the tube in one hand, interlocked my fingers and pushed both hands together, really hard! Nothing.... I finally put the tube down on my desk, put my hand on it and put my weight down on the tube; got about a half inch "segment" to push out. Put some on my finger and offered it to my cat; he wasn't having any of it. Bottom line, this stuff isn't as advertised as a "gel", it's a thick, dense paste that's difficult to squeeze out of the tube, and would be difficult to smear on your cats paw. Although it's not a returnable item, you can get a refund. Shame on this company for promoting this crap on cat owners. they should go back to their original formulation, or just discontinue this item. Even the sales page for this item shows the white cap tube, and if you scroll down, shows a little pileof what is supposed to be this "gel" as a white, creamy looking substance. shame on them! Shame!

Do now know about the urinary tract improvements, but my cat loves the taste and smell and licks it right from the tube.

Tried one time to put inside the paw, thought it made more of a mess there than mixed into food lol.
