Perfect!
These are a great value! So fresh and the flakes are more like thick ribbons. There was a lot of air in the bag so nothing was crushed- no bonito dust or broken pieces at the bottom of the bag. They are large and thick top to bottom. The only issue is my cats, who I bought them for. They wonāt touch them. They have been eating another brand of bonito for a few years and I wanted to switch to this brand to save some money. I think the flavor might be too strong for the kitties. I guess I will have to come up with some āpeopleā recipes to use them up! I am sure they are delicious. They smell great!

JUMBO SIZEDš²šš„°
It's a 1lb bag! Large flakes. I wasn't paying attention and I thought it was a small bag. However this is like a party sized bag of Lay's potato chips....but bigger. It tasted nice and I cannot wait to start using it in recipes. I got curious watching "Korina Solo Life" on YouTube and he uses this a lot in his dishes. I wanted to give it a try.š It appears not to have an expiration date which is good...there's a lot. This can easily be of great value to those who feeds this to their pets as well.

My 5 kitties LOVE it!
I buy this instead of Cat man doo fish flakes. Much cheaper and a lot more product! I put some in a baggie for use now, then vacuum seal the rest and freeze it. My 5 kitties LOVE this as a topper!

HUGE BAG of cured bonito flakes for dashi!
If you're not yet ready to buy whole chunks of fermented, smoked and preserved tuna plus the required shaver to make your own flakes, this is a quite decent ingredient for use in dashi, ramen soups and other Japanese foods. This is a HUGE bag, volume wise. Very thin, transparent flakes. Dissolves into the soup and disappears quickly, gives the desired ummami flavor and is generally good stuff. If you are not going to use it up within a month or so of opening, or live in a humid area, best transfer much of it into large mason jars or similar and save the excess in freezer- This big bag will easily fill 4 quart mason jars, lightly compacted!

Really delicious, I'm glad I tried these!
I truly enjoyed these after learning about them and ordering a bag. You can use them as a snack, or add them to soups or other dishes for a nice umami kick!

My Go-To For the Best Dashi!
This is really a good value for what you get, and you can be generous in preparing your dashi soup base for miso soup. Don't let the weight fool you, because it is a huge bag stuffed full of large flakes. The flakes get smaller as you get to bottom of the bag as expected due to handling from the top down.

NOT FOR ANIMALS No sure how HUMANS eat these!
These are not for animals. I am not sure what kind of human would want to eat these. The shavings are large but the smoke smell is so strong you smell it hours after you open the bag. My cats who typically go bonkers of bonito flakes looked at these and said no way. THE skunks, and racoons wouldn't even eat them. Go price for a large bag but that is about it. I seriously don't know how any human eats these. I gave it three stars because it wasn't marked for animals and maybe they are great for people how eat them.
