SATA to 4x SATA

I built a diy NAS using some PCIe HBA to support 18x disks. The only thing missing was a PSU with that many SATA power connectors. This adapter comes to the rescue. Each supports 3 new drives (4 outputs from 1 input). Try to organize them as a tree rather than a long chain - the sata power connectors themselves are rated to a lower power than the cables, so you don't want to have everything go through the first connector.

Works as advertised. Absolutely love how easy this makes it to setup multiple HDDs. Great quality, well made.

I needed some extenders to power a SSD I was installing. These worked perfectly for the job and feel much more premium than what you would expect for what you pay.

Like most modern computer cases my PSU is in the bottom of the case. By that orientation, the cable connections are upside down. This leads to the tail end to be at the opposite end of the PSU, which in my case partially defeats the purpose of a cable extender. Other than that it works perfectly fine. I recommend checking the wiring prior to putting it to use. I ended up flipping the connector orientation and shortening the wires too.

These type of extension cords are always so-so to me. I would never trust them too much because they add extra load to your current power cable. However, I have to use it otherwise it means extra cash on the PSU that I don't really need. I started using one of them in my NAS built and it was working fine. Recently I expanded my NAS drives from 8 to 10, and moved my setup from a itx case + drive cage => mid ATX case. Then I used this one along with a 1-2 sata power splitter cable. So one of my line would be EVGA 3 head sata power cable + this extension + Y splitter. I was hesitated a little bit but still decided to give it a try. The power usage is not that huge so it should be okay. And it works. For this reason, I give this extension cord a 5 star rating. However, it's always YMMV. If your cable shows signs of issue, which will eventually happen to someone (it's a possibility game), and if you doubt, you don't use it, simple as that. Tips: check the cable connections, check the sata power head metal quality. If you cannot find anything abnormal, it should be okay.

At the input end of this adapter, just snip the 3.3v line off, then you can run this up the back of four shucked drives without messing around with tape or other weird solutions to the 3.3v problem. Any modern, major reputable brand PSU (like EVGA) should have enough juice on a SATA 12v rail to spin up all four drives without sag. I run two of these adapters and spin 100TB of 8 shucked EasyStores off them. These are good, solid, safe adapters for the purpose. All you have to do is snip that wire.

I use it to power additional hard drives in my PC converted into a storage server. As another reviewer said, it's orientated so that the power from the PSU plugs into the top, so it's a little awkward to hook up with the PSU if you have one that's bottom mounted (which is a majority nowadays). Plugs are not injected molded, which is a plus.

Needed to drive two HDDs in an array in a system that has few SATA power connectors. This worked great.

I purchased two of these Cable Matters 2-Pack 15 Pin SATA to 4 SATA Power Splitter Cable - 18 Inches, for use in a 16-drive server I was having issue with. The cables were only used for testing, and served that purpose perfectly. I avoided other brands of cables based on the bad and mixed reviews. I didn't want to hassle with potentially bad cables, as I was already hassling with potentially bad drives, so I paid a little more and don't regret doing so.

These are designed to start from the top and run downwards. I needed something that starts at the bottom and runs upwards, but I was unable to find any that did that at this price point. The experiment was to remove the connectors, flip, rotate, and reconnect them so that it could run from the bottom upwards. It worked like a charm (assuming charms work). 5 stars for how easy it is to change the orientation of the connectors.

Worked perfect on my old coolermaster PSU. High quality crimped connections and you can even customize them if you felt inclined to get specific distances.
