Authentic
I have wanted to try authentic kopi luwak for as long as I have known it exists. Kopi luwak is regarded as one of the best and most expensive cups of coffee in the world. This product does NOT fail to deliver on that promise. The bag comes whole-bean and needs to be ground. The product is accompanied by a printed set of instructions on how to best-prepare a cup. Not going to lie -- I run mine through a Keurig. Am I a blasphemer for it? Probably. But I'm lazy and it's tasty.Description for the product suggests notes of chocolate and caramel, and I absolutely agree. This coffee is the absolute smoothest, silkiest, least-bitter coffee I have ever consumed, and it has absolutely NO aftertaste on the back of the palette. As a sufferer of GERD (acid reflux), I can honestly say that kopi luwak is the first coffee that legitimately DOES NOT give me ANY acid reflux. It's absolutely amazing. One of the coolest parts of my experience with the coffee is the interaction with the Luwak Star company. They've been very communicative when very, very minor complications arose with my orders (yes, plural, because it's amazing), and on my last order, they included a hand-written thank you card -- a true sign of class, and just a neat and fun experience as a consumer. If you can afford it, TRY IT.

Nothing out of the ordinary
Pleasant aroma, yet ordinary in taste; it tastes good, but never an exceptional taste.

Exceptional Brew!!!
I have college-age children and bought Luwak Star Sumatra Gayo Luwak Coffee to brew on Christmas morning. I thought my children would appreciate the novelty of this unique coffee for our family celebration. I am an intensive care unit physician and drink coffee to survive long work hours. Mostly, I notice coffee more when I miss the morning cup than when drinking stale hospital roast. For the first time in years, I realized how much a good cup of coffee matters. Smooth and balanced, I was shocked by HOW GOOD THIS COFFEE TASTES. Nothing was added, except the happiness of talking with my children on a special occasion. I am not a "foodie" of coffee aficionado. Even so, I am a working person who can appreciate when a daily ritual is elevated into a special experience. Luwak Star Gourmet Coffee is expensive, but I believe the "perfect cup" with family and friends is priceless.Luwak Star Gourmet Coffee has great customer service and the product is delivered promptly. I am a repeat customer.

Smooth But A Little Too Expensive For Everyday Consumption
After learning about kopi luwak from The Bucket List, I've been wanting to try some but never could bring myself to try it due to the cost and the fact that it's been in and out of an animal. But when I found a friend who was willing to try it with me, I figured, how bad could this be? Granted, this was an expensive experiment but it's a once thing so the $50 was well spent in that sense. We both like strong coffee and this was certainly strong. A 100gm bag was more than enough for a 10-cup pot with some leftover. It didn't smell any different nor did it taste any different, unfortunately. (Mind you, I'm not comparing this to stuff like Folgers or Starbucks. I'm comparing it to the Malaysian coffee I'm used to.) It was strong but smooth - it didn't have the "rancid" taste (not sure if I'm explaining the taste correctly) that some cheaper coffee tend to have and neither did it have a charred flavor like burnt beans. Unfortunately, it still had a hint of bitterness toward the end of the sip. I tried it black at first to experience the taste unadulterated by anything but couldn't stand it. (I never could drink black coffee anyway.) A packet of sugar made it pleasant but still retain its coffee-ness.As an experiment, it was worth it, albeit a little expensive. I don't think I'll be purchasing more of this - it's an ok coffee. I would drink it if presented with it but I won't go out of my way to get it. Just a little too expensive for everyday drinking. I'll stick to my Malaysian coffee - sweet, smooth, and buttery, almost.

Flavorful and the taste lasts
I purchased this coffee for my husband as a gift for his coffee bar set up for Father’s Day from the kids and I. He has always casually mentioned wanting to try this kind of coffee so I figured why not. He absolutely loved it. He did try it black but said he preferred it with a little half and half. Said it was unlike any other cup of coffee he has ever had. The flavor lasts in your mouth for awhile. He took the last bit of it to share with a co-worker so I’m about to order the 1/2 lb bag. If you’re on the fence pull the trigger. Even if you don’t like it (which I doubt) you can say you’ve tried it.

Coffee is sour
The coffee snob inside me wanted to like this coffee. However, no matter what I did, the coffee tasted sour while drinking--it did have a somewhat pleasant aftertaste though. I tried different grinders with different coarseness settings. I hand ground it, tried it on a cheap philips saeco, and on a baratza 270, mind you each try takes roughly $5 worth of coffee beans. I'm nearing the bottom of the bag and have yet to produce an enjoyable cup to drink. I tried making it into espresso, leaving the grinds in my coffee cup, tried the aeropress and nada still no luck. I really wanted to like this product but I do not.

Pretty good coffee & i'm someone who doesn't drink it much
I will say that first off i had thought of getting a gift for my girlfriend and i thought to myself what is the one thing she like diamonds, clothes, money... none of those i thought of best coffee. she is a coffee addict so to buy coffee as a gift made her laugh, then confused, then she cried (tears of joy). Now the coffee it self i will say smelt freakin delicious and i had my girl smell it and she loved the smell also. after grinding the beans and brewing the coffee of course i tried my best to follow the instructions. the outcome of fresh brewed coffee was so far the best coffee I've tasted and i drank it black also i don't drink coffee i prefer tea. my girl is in love with coffee and even wants to marry the stuff, i'm jealous..lol other than great customer service and product arrived quick overall two thumbs up!! thanx fenche
