I have been bleaching and lightening my hair at home for @ 7 years now. While I highly prefer getting my hair professionally colored, I cannot afford it. This developer by Clairol helps me achieve the results I desire in the comfort of my home. This item is a Volume 40 developer, which means 'use with caution.' Actually, Volume 40 is recommended for use only by professional stylists. I use it to achieve super-blonde hair color quickly. I mix it with a powder coloring / lightening product at a 2:1 ratio. 2 parts volume to 1 part color. I always use extreme caution when coloring, and I re-read the directions every time I color my hair. You should do the same. Why? These are dangerous chemicals that can cause illness or injury quickly. You never know if or when a company has changed the composition of a product. Nor do you know when directions change due to new research. Always read the inserts and directions every time you color your hair. It just takes a few minutes, and even if it is a repeat of the last time, you can rest assured nothing has changed and carry on blissfully! Lecture's over now.
