APC AR8136BLK

Ich habe mir insgesamt 20 dieser Teile für meinen - anfangs erst mal halb vollen - 42HE-Serverschrank geholt. Optisch meiner subjektiven Meinung nach viel schöner als die klassischen Blank-Panels. Dafür sind sie aus Plastik, was zwar das Einbauen zu einer Sache von 2 Sekunden macht, aber aus der Nähe ein klein wenig vom tollen Eindruck nimmt. Gäbe es diese Teile aus Metall (schwarzer Edelstahl!), hätte ich 6 Sterne vergeben.

These things are the best blanking panels I have found (for square hole racks). We use them primarily for airflow control (every unused slot must have a blanking panel in it), but they also improve aesthetics greatly as well. Note that if your server cabinet is slightly irregular they are sometimes difficult to snap in, or they will fall out. Normally bending the plastic tabs out a little bit before inserting them deals with the falling out issue. Note that I think they are stupid expensive for what they are. Here is to hoping for some good quality knock off units from someone a bit less spendy than APC. Also note that you can buy them in the bulk packages for a *lot* less (I can't remember how many you have to buy, but it is at least 100...) I forget what the SKU is for the bulk package off the top of my head.

They do exactly what they're intended to do. They fill a 1U hole in a rack and prevent hot air from flowing back into the intake of rack-mounted equipment. APC does a good job with their manufacturing and I find these to be quite easy to install and uninstall. A real time-saver when compared to panels that need to be screwed in, especially for square-hole racks. The manufacturer has obviously paid attention to measurements. I have tried other brands that work well (HP branded) and those that don't fit universally (Tripp Lite) and so far the APC brands are the best I have sampled. Our datacenter has racks from APC, HP, Dell and some other generic racks and the APC blanking panels fit very well into every rack.

Build is ok but they do the job. Just make sure they fit the specific rack you have. They are difficult to put in and take out because they really have to snap and sometimes it feels they might break the little latch that holds them.
