Really is a time and money saver and a great purchase
Update: I've now tried 4 different brands of this product over the past year and have to say that THIS is, by far, the very best quality. Sturdy, much more product for the money, more charcoal. Save your time, your money, your searching. Buy with confidence. Originally ordered the single package to install in the heat registers in the house. I have forced air heat and had a really bad mold outbreak so the air was really bad once heating season started. Cut this to fit the intake AND output vents and even before changing the furnace filter, the difference was notably improved. For the intakes, I just cut enough to put over the vent. The furnace draw holds the fabric in place, and WOW! You can see the dust on the black filter! Cut to put into the output vents behind the grill and with the filters on the intake, there's almost nothing on the output. Bought the double package this time. The fabric is heavy enough to trap all sorts of impurities but light-weight enough to not inhibit the furnace function. (I even put a piece on the back of a box fan to create an "air purifier" and noticed that this made a difference in decreasing cooking aromas!) "Most excellent" product and a great purchase!

A good, reasonably priced product
I could find nothing available locally, (New Zealand), that matches this. A good product, very effective at filtering out the baddies before they get into the range hood fan mechanism and exit vent. Reasonable price, prompt service. Well done.

much thicker than other carbon filters
This carbon filter is much thicker than any of the other brands that I have purchased in the last several years. Very little light gets through, unlike some that look like screen material. Also, no odor which is helpful. I wish they could figure out how to send these as rolls instead of folded because the folds keep it from laying flat for awhile, but that is not a flaw with this excellent filter.

removes odors from recirculating range hood, but is it fireproof?
Using this inside a recirculating range hood, just behind the main intake vent. So far, so good (after a few months). Removes odors (can smell the difference) and grease and dust (can see accumulation). Needs to be changed every few months (depending on use frequency of course). Trying to reuse by lightly washing and 'baking' in hot sunlight; remains to be seen how this works out over time. Flaw: I wish I knew if this material was truly fireproof or fire-resistant (up to ?? degrees?).

Glad I found it :)
Well, I cut it in pieces, put in ventilation, put it in air purifier, so far, works great, its nice, that you can cut it yourself to fit for your needs... will buy again, good product !!! :)

Works well for my usage
I use these as a prefilter for my Levoit air purifier filters. I cut to size and tape them together around my filter with duct tape at the seam. This prolongs the life of my more expensive filters. I can pull it off and wash it as well when it starts to trap dust. My purifier has a built-in sensor for when the filter needs replacing. I used to replace them around every 6 months. Now when it sets off, I just wash my prefilter and vacuum out the air purifier filter and I'm back in business. Well worth the money and time.

Gets the Dust. Not sure about smell
Not sure about smell removal but it fills up with dust pretty fast. I use it on several window units in different houses. Some units I use it inside the filter door in front of the stock filter. For the slide out filters I just put it against the front grill and the suction from the ac keeps it in place until you shut the unit off. Being black its easy to see the dust build up.

Clog FAST…so thin
My extremely ancient furnace takes these giant mesh filters. Every time I’ve had HVAC people out they say they’ve never in their entire career seen a furnace old enough to require these filters. I used to be able to get one inch thick ones at Walmart but they stopped carrying them. These are the only ones I can find that are long enough to only need to use one of them. Sometimes I buy other brands that are shorter/thicker because they last longer but I hate having to use two that I have to try to tape together to keep the top one from sliding down. These are maybe a quarter inch thick a most and fully clog within 2-3 weeks. In theory you can hose them off but it doesn’t get much of the dust out so I’m washing the filter weekly and changing out the filter monthly. I tried to go longer and it caused condensation to back up into my air blocked system filling my ducts with water and dropping them off the house which cost me 900 bucks to repair. So these are cheap’ish and the only thing that fits my furnace but definitely rinse them out every week or two and replace fully every 4-6 weeks despite rinsing if you don’t want to destroy your HVAC system. Or just buy better quality filters. I’ll keep buying them because I can’t afford a new furnace.
