MAGNUM_MEDIA RHS-10ATC Salinity Refractometer Dual Scale (1.000-1.070 Salinity S.G.)

Works great. Just what was advertised. Can't beat the price. It is well worth the money and alot more reliable than a hydrometer.

I bought this to replace an ATC refractometer I purchased from BRS a few years ago. I had to replace that one after I knocked it to the floor and it flew to pieces. This ATC is not from the same manufacturer that BRS sells, it is much more cheaply made, and it doesn't hold calibration well. It does the job better than a hydrometer, but have plenty of calibration fluid on hand.

It is accurate, easy to use, well built. The only thing I don't like is the focus eyepiece turns to easily, but it is not a big deal.

So super easy. 3 drops of distilled water, adjust to zero with the little screwdriver and then tighten the nut around the calibration screw and your done. 3 drops of salt water and you look through see the obvious line and know what your salinity is. Doesn't work in the dark :)

This device sucks. It measures the salinity perfectly but has to be calibrated every single time. On top of that, the stainless steel connecting rod for the plastic flap rusted after a few uses and is pretty much frozen stiff. I always clean with fresh water and dry when I'm done using it It's just terrible quality parts... Pick a different brand.

Tested it against the much more expensive ones at the LFS and its just as accurate and at a fraction of the cost. If you are tired of the float type then get this and dont look back. DO order some of the calibration fluid though, you need that with all of these really.

It works its just very hard to see through the tiny and very stiff eyepiece. Its also difficult to get it to focus.

So far this unit is working properly and I see no reason why it will ever not continue to work. The quality is great and I would actually rate it just as high as I would a $150.00 unit. This is the buy of the year, don't bother to shop around, this is perfect for you no matter how critical your needs are.

Works well and is good value for money compared with similar branded products. I use it regularly to check the salinity of my reef tank and when making fresh salt water to complete a water change as far as possible results seem accurate and reliable. Far easier to use than a fish keeping hydrometer and more accurate.

I paid £20 for this while it was on sale which I’d say is decent value for money, however at normal price of £29.99 I would recommend spending the extra £5 to get the Red Sea one.It does it’s job ok however does feel very light and a bit flimsy in comparison to others I’ve used in the past as well as there seems to be a smudge on the lens of mine which I noticed on first use And I can’t seem to get rid of so maybe a scratch when manufactured? This does make it a little bit challenging to read but it still seems to work ok. Overall a decent refractometer but I wouldn’t buy it again myself at it’s full price.

Works well

Really simple to calibrate and quick and easy to use. Much less faff in use than the floating glass types and I believe it to be more accurate in use too. It comes in a tough yet smart case with a dropper and screwdriver for calibration and a soft cleaning cloth. Instructions are very clear and understandable. Well worth the cost.

Just received my RHS, I don't know how this product is marketed at such a competitive price. I have used instruments that have cost 3x what I have just received and this is on par with those. The only adjustment needed was to zero it. I used a fresh batch of RO water for this, I then checked my tank water with my new RHS against a known instrument, both reading were identical. The scale is very easy to see. Well worth the money, if you need a quality instrument then I would recommend this to you. As a closing remark, it is 10x quicker than using something like a Kent Marine Hydrometer.
