Works well, inexpensive
Bought one to replace my SmartThings hub with Zigbee2MQTT. I 3D printed a case for it and was able to do the RP-SMA antenna mod to increase the signal strength. I flashed the Z-Stack firmware on it using an ESP8266 board and some alligator clips. The pins are very small so be careful not to accidentally short any connections. Zigbee2MQTT detected it without any issue, and I was able to add some light bulbs and remotes without any problem.

Must have device to program
They aren't clear that you need a separate device for programming.

Wasn’t what I was needing
I ordered this by mistake I thought it was something else but nonetheless it still was a good product.

Poor signal
This uses an old chip that is not recommended any more, although it will work. It comes without firmware and must flashed, not hard... if you have the hardware to do it. But most important, the on-board antenna is terrible.

Works Great, Very Economical, Limited Range.
I re-flashed this for use with Zigbee2MQTT and Home Assistant using a Raspberry Pi and some alligator clips. Had to bend the pins to get the clips to fit, but it wasn't hard. It's a good value, and works as expected. The range isn't great. If you're willing to wait for shipping from china, you can get these with an antenna for a similar price on other sites. If you are like me and you want it in a more timely manner, this is the way to go. It paired easily with both of the devices I tried so far (SmartThings Button and Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor). The range is OK. I have a 1400 sq/ft house, and this will reach from one end to the other, but didn't work from the garage or yard. If I was more patient, I would probably get one with an external antenna, but I don't regret this.
