Received 3 of an Amazing Product
I bought the color London after trying out a NYX liquid lipstick I bought at Target. It's a great "Kylie" type of color, which, of course, I am jumping on the bandwagon for. I live in a place where the nearest Sephora is an hour away and so I like to pick up drugstore items when I shop. NYX Matte liquid lipsticks are BY FAR the Best drugstore liquid lipstick. I haven't tried Colorpop, so I can't compare to them since they're online only. They're exponentially better than the other brands I've tried (Maybelline, Hard Candy, etc) that offer a liquid matte lip. It stays on and smells and feels great. I have used luxury lipsticks to $1 lipsticks and honestly, $5 is all you need to pay for a great lip product. However I did receive this is a package of 3! I was like... wait did I buy 3 of the same thing? Has this happened to anyone else? Not sure what I'm going to do with 3 of the same thing.

Lovely nude for light to medium skin tones
I have three shades of this formula (Athens, Abu Dhabi, and London). Of the three, Athens is the lightest and is more peachy-pink. Abu Dhabi is a soft mauve/rose brown. London is similar to Abu Dhabi, but with a more yellow undertone and less pink. Of the two, Abu Dhabi and London are my go-to shades for neutral nudes, though Abu Dhabi pairs better with cooler (pink, purple, taupe, etc.) eye makeup and London pairs better with warmer (bronze, copper, green, orange, etc.) eye makeup.Formula-wise, the name is accurate: these lip colors are matte and mousse-y, with a slow dry down and reasonable, but not extremely pigmented, coverage. They're fairly comfortable, but are not moisturizing at all. They have a tendency to be unforgiving on dry, chapped, or crackly lips--the pigment will collect in lip wrinkles and cling to flakes. However, from a distance they look fine.Pros:- flattering nude shades (Abu Dhabi, London) for light-medium to medium skin tones- comfortable- easy to work withCons:- will collect in any dry patches on lips- not transferproofYMMV:- buildable color (not one-swipe full pigmentation like liquid lipsticks)

Love the look
I was very surprised to have loved this lip cream so much. The color is perfect, a brownish nude, and it looks really good and smooth on my lips. I especially like the matte look. One thing I like about it is that it moisturizes my lips. Whenever I wear a standard lipstick; I get a dry look and have to use primer and chapstick, but with this all I need is the cream, and maybe some lip liner to add a little oomph. I'm usually a makeup snob but decided to give this lip cream it a try because it was so cheap and I am now hooked and am going to try other colors as well.

Matte Lip Creams
London - I like this product, a lot. I just expected it to be a little lighter and more pink, but it's definitely a brown lipstick. It's still really cute though. I would be cautious of the color London and would go more with Stockholm if you are more cool toned.Buenos Aires - Definitely a bright neon coral.Prague - AMAZING. I love this so much. Beautiful rosey color.Copenhagen - Dark red. Kind of sheer. Not really sure how I feel about it on *me* but I think it's beautiful. Really dark though. And if you Google "Nyx Copenhagen" it has pictures that are more purpley. It isn't purple. It's a dark red/burgundy.Antwerp - Reminds me of a pink Buenos Aries. Neon pink, but like, a darker pink. Reminds me of a more pink Prague.

Love it
NYX did it again. This lipgloss goes on creamy and stays creamy for several minutes allowing for great coverage. Once dry it’s the perfect matte finish. Oh and the color is beautiful. Get you 2!

There’s better “drugstore” options
Much like the NYX butter gloss, the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream substantially lacks pigmentation. As such, I find yourself applying multiple layers. Unfortunately, the more layers I apply, the more drying the formula feels on my lips. Granted, I have had much dryer formulas from much more expensive brands, even “lux” brands, but if I could apply less and still get the pigment, it would be better. As far as the color itself, the hue, isn’t very rich (hence lack of pigmentation). The tint seems as if there’s too much white, so expect any nudes to lean pinky to orange instead of beige to brown. My guess is that this will also be a problem with the berries and reds, but I can’t say for sure. The color tone- what tone? The color isn’t particularly pleasing which means that the color formulation lacks complexity or isn’t mixed with consideration to tone. It may be a “well, that’s good enough” color creation process, something I’ve considered in relation to other NYX products. Shade isn’t relevant for the color I selected, so I can’t speak to that. Overall, if you’re in a pinch and need something to pick up on the way to an outing, it’s something. Otherwise, I wouldn’t waste the money or time trying to guess which option would look best on you with this product. So, I’m giving it three stars: It’s not great. It’s not good. It may work if desperate, and, hey, it’s not as drying as other products. I consider 3 stars to be a grade of 50%. I purchased the color London and have light brown skin with gold, pink, & olive undertones. Hope this too long review for a meh product helps someone out there, and I do enjoy complaining to the internet, so this review, at least, has benefitted me if no one else.
