Extremely good value!
Fantastic seller, product shipped out with tracking info within hours of placing order. This Griffin remote hi-hat stand is an INCREDIBLY good value... you can't get anywhere NEAR this quality at this price point. I owned and used a DW (almost $600 at the time) for years and this, at least on first impressions, is absolutely on par with it. Impressively sturdy construction, buttery smooth action, wide range of tension adjustability, bottom hat seats firmly and well protected, top hat clamp has tons of room for adjusting how loose or tight your prefer it to be, pedal base is way more stout than I had expected, it's built like a tank. The adjustable cams are a really nice feature, the pedal action and response is fantastic, no lag at all. I was a little concerned that the lack of legs would make it feel less stable or allow it to migrate while playing, but that hasnt been an issue at all. Its heavy and has rubber pads or claws you can use depending on the floor surface. So, I actually like the fact that it DOESN'T have legs cuz it takes up less real estate and doesn't crowd the other pedals. Griffin appears to use a slightly more narrow gauge cable than I remember from the DW remote hat stand, but it actually seems to be a bit of an advantage. There's less mass to move, so less latency in the response. Not that I ever had an issue with the DWs pedal response, but this definitely has a nice quick crisp feel. My only question will be long term durability... if it holds up as well as it seems to be built then I'll be even more impressed. I really was hesitant to buy this because it was so cheap and I don't like to cut corners on gear, but I figured even if it sucked, it was cheap enough to be worth giving it a try. EXTREMELY glad I tried instead of forking over $500 - $600 again on a bigger name brand... even if it lasts half as long as my DW, I'd still be ahead of the game to buy another Griffin a couple more times.

Great Remote Cable Hi Hat Stand.
Purchased the Griffin Hi Hat cable and I this turned out better than I thought. A great value. Perfect for my alternate side hat on the rack system. Durable, smooth. and truthfully I like the feel more than My Iron Cobra hat stand. I might just get another one and use on my main Hi Hat side. Great price. This thing is solid. It does what I need it to do. Thank you everyone at GeekStands. I will be ordering more from you.

Worth the Price
I took note of a reviewer's process of pulling this unit apart to lubricate it and did the same, using 3 in 1 household oil for lubricant, rather than WD40, a penetrating oil. It increased the fluidity quite a bit.I also raised the footboard. Next to kick pedals it was a lot lower. Raising it not only brought it even with the kick pedals but, also increased the action response. I would raise it higher but, the bolt the footboard connects to would be brought too low and would scrape the chain. You'd have to snip that bolt to make it shorter.I was surprised at the size of this device. I own a Pearl and Gibraltar and their upper sections are not as long as the Griffin is, which allows for greater clamping options. The tension adjustment works pretty well. The footboard mechnism is pretty fancy for drum hardware in this price range. It works well, too.The cable shield is very stiff. More so than than the Pearl and Gibraltar. That makes placement more difficult as the strength of the shield wants to control the foot assembly, rather than the other way around. You have to get the cable just right to keep your foot assembly in place and not get pulled off a vertical position. The foot assembly doesn't weigh enough to hold itself in place against the strength of that cable shield. The action of any new remote loosens with a little time. Right out of the box, no, this has no comparison to higher end remotes. If you want to get into some DIY, I ended up with a device which is not as smooth as the Pearl but, more smooth than the Gibraltar, and for the price, I give it a solid 4 stars.

15/15 Stars
This is either a SERIOUS bang for the buck, or the 'bigger names' are fleecing their customers. This is cheap, works great, and enables great ergonomics. Why not just play cross like everyone else? Better question, go sit on a traffic cone. Some of us have back issues, shoulder issues, etc. I keep this centered behind my snare but you can put it on the far right as well. The pedal has not stand, which made me hesitant, but it stays up and in place. Haven't even had to put velcro on the bottom. But disclaimer, I dont get very fancy or aggressive with the hihat pedal, so you do with that what you will. But absolutely worth it to buy this over the $300-400 versions out there.

Stiffler
I've read all the reviews referencing the stiff action and have tried everything that's been recommended to soften the action but there has been no change in the operation. It's so stiff in fact, that it feels extremely unnatural. Not sure about everyone else but I didn't feel hardly any difference when adjusting the tension knob from 0 to 10. I followed the instructions to make sure the cable is free standing without kinks or full circles but just can't get it to feel right... However, despite the other reviews that claim the hardware is cheap and unstable, I would totally have to disagree. The pedal and stand are very heavy duty along with the hardware and moving pieces, it all looks and feels like quality material. Unfortunately, I'll probably be sending this hihat stand back. Great price for a descent product but not ideal for multi-use hihat functionality. Would be great for double-bass drummers needing an additional hihat to stay in the open or close position.
