Harmony House Foods, Dried Onions, Chopped, 16 Ounce Quart Size Jar

It is just what is says - dried onions. They are not sweet onions. They are flavorful, they have bite -- like a white onion. Rehydrating was simple and fast (10 minutes).Price was OK, not the cheapest, nor was it the highest I've paid. But I didn't buy them because of the price. I bought them because the online info said the country of origin was the US. More and more I'm seeing foods coming in from countries with less stringent safety procedures that we enjoy in the US. So, when I can, I am buying from US grown foods (I am hoping that the "country of origin: US" means the onions were grown and dehydrated here -- not just packaged and/or distributed from the US.)

These are perfect in soups! I've also used them in remoulade sauce. You can get dried onions anywhere but these are really good quality. I also got the mushroom and jalapeno. Again, perfect for certain recipes, not ideal for others - but you knew that, right? Maybe not great in an omelette or on a steak. But perfect for stews and sauces. Nice.

Having these on hand are a real treat. Even if I have fresh, sweet onions, I will choose these in some applications, such as; if I want to absorb extra moisture, rather than add moisture, for instance ham, chicken or tuna salads. Make it then refrigerate overnight. The onions will be rehydrated and your salad won't have that wateriness that sometimes happens. A container this size lasts a long time, a year for me. Convenience and excellent flavor, they are small pieces, great for most applications.

I use onions all the time and this works very well for me. They have a really good taste.

You don’t have to use much. So I over onions my stuff the first few times of using this.

I love these onions! They are super flavorful and EASY to cook with. I wouldn't recommend using them on pizzas.. but they are wonderful in soups, and curries, ect.. As long as the onions are hydrated again, they can be used in almost any recipe within reason. If you hydrate them first they are going to be slimy onions so you will want to use them in things that are cooked. That means these hydrated onions are probably not going to be very tasty on a raw salad. However, think of all the cooked recipes you have chopped onions for! The time saved is amazing!The reason why I love these so much is you get the flavor of onions (way better than minced onions at the grocery store), in the recipe AND no teary eyes, onion fingers, and cutting boards! Highly recommend!

Haven't used them a lot, but love the idea and have great plans for them.

Dried onions are becoming more and more expensive but also difficult to find. I was delighted to find this on Amazon and also to say that the quality is excellent. This tub will last a while but when it's done, I will definitely be back for more. Delicious!!!
